2013 USSF Recertification
Registration
You will need your completed USSF Recertification Packet which includes:
1. Washington State Recertification Form - this is obtained on the NCREF site under the
Good Stuff TAB on the far left then under USSF Documents. If you cannot find these
documents contact either:
Referee Administrator - Dee White at [email protected]
Instruction Coordinator - Larry Metz at [email protected]
2. USSF Referee Registration Form – Also can be found at NCREF Site then to Good Stuff
then under USSF Documents. Again contact Dee or Larry if you cannot find it.

Check "Referee" in the upper right (if you are also an Instructor, Assessor or
Assignor you have additional information to provide and you have already received
emails from state on procedures).

Set the Year to 2013
o
Fill in Step 1 as best you can
o
Fill out Step 5 - it must be completely filled out
o
Your form MUST be signed and dated
Take your paperwork and registration fee - $55 check payable to WSRC for Grade 8 or Grade 9 - to
an NCREFS Monthly Meeting (second Wednesday of each month at Mariner High School). You
may be able to turn in paperwork at one our Recertification Clinics or New Referee Clinics as well.
Or mail your completed Recertification Packet (WA State Recertification Form with your five hours
and Test Score, USSF Registration Form filled out, a check for $55 payable to WSRC. If you want
your 2013 badge mailed to you then you must include a self-addressed stamped envelope as well or
pick up your badge at the next monthly meeting.

Recertification Clinics
(If you are a Grade 9, please see the section on Upgrading for Grade 9 Referees below)
To recertify you need five or more hours of continue education. You need to pass a recertification
test (see below for more details). And you need to register for 2013 and pay the appropriate fees.
There are opportunities locally for recertification or throughout the Puget Sound region. You will
need to contact the Instruction Coordinator for these training hours to count. Some clinics have a
nominal charge others have no cost. Clinics are set up and designed to meet specific needs for
various groups of referees recertifying so make sure you confirm that you are attending the correct
Recertification Clinic. Monthly Meeting Training hours count for everyone and may be accumulated
in areas outside of NCREFS. Additionally, some of you may qualify to gain your recertification hours
through attending the New Referee Clinics. Contact either Dee White or Larry Metz to see if this
option will work for you.
Here are the opportunities currently scheduled within North Chapter area to assist you in gaining
your five hours. As referenced earlier you need to sign up with the clinics you want to attend. As of
3.5.13 there are no special clinics scheduled. Contact [email protected] for upcoming

Recertification Testing
Recertification testing will be online beginning this year. You can do your testing before or after you
complete your continuing education hours.
How to Take the Recertification Test
The USSF Test for Recertification for 2013 is online. However, with our state site undergoing a
makeover the primary way to take this test currently is through email. Contact either Dee or Larry to
receive your 2013 Recertification Test. You will complete the test at your convenience and then let us
know when you are ready to correct the test.

What Happens If You Fail an Exam?
You will get a chance to review the questions you missed and see the correct answers. If you have
questions, you should contact the instructor you named (see above) via email. When you feel you
understand what you missed, you should tell the instructor. The instructor will then clear your
answers and you will retake the entire exam. (Yes, the entire exam must be retaken if you fail.)
Upgrading for Grade 9 Referees
If you are a Grade 9 referee who needs to recertify, we recommend you take Grade 8 clinic instead of
the recertification path. The New Referee Clinic will earn you a Grade 8 certification. A Grade 9
referee who needs to recertify most likely has been officiating for two seasons and obviously enjoys
refereeing. The Grade 8 will open more opportunities to referee at tournaments and during
upcoming season.
