Golden Rule Music is a new service

We may be the best known publisher you’ve never heard of.
Millions of the children in your congregations sing our music. And many of

farmhouse to plan a publishing company that
would help elementary music teachers change

• All Hail The Power Of Jesus’
Name - When you first hear this
striking new setting, your first
thought might be “Riverdance.”
It is an energetic 4/4 with an
infectious 12/8 underpinning
for orchestra.
• Amazing Grace - We
think that this fine old hymn deserves the powerful setting you will find here. Opening
with beautiful, entwining string counterpoint, it leads to rich chords under the choir.
• Be Thou My Vision - Rooted in a strong pianistic adaptation, this favorite hymn
swells into a strong, rhythmic arrangement that will stay with you for a long time.
• Fairest Lord Jesus - We have heard many settings of this old hymn, but this setting
is unique, with a simple Appalachian accompaniment, spiced with just the right
instruments including a hammered dulcimer, and a chorus of guitars. It’s just right.
• Come, Thou Fount Of Every Blessing - Enjoy this plaintive arrangement that states
the song simply, over an elegant tapestry of piano, strings, and guitar. It is topped off with a
lovely violin solo over the final verse.
• The Solid Rock - This striking setting of the great old hymn is sort of “rock in 3.”
It builds from an expectant intro, full of tight harmonies in the accompaniment of rhythm
section and strings. By the chorus, it is a joyous forte with rock guitar and moving strings.
Coming out of the second verse there is a big ending with an optional second part, and a
big “Amen” to close it.

You’ve got to hear this exciting new arrangement!
Most of us have heard and sung this tune since we were
kids, but you’ve never heard it like this. The heart of
the arrangement is a foot-tapping rock style with an
intriguing new harmonic treatment. The melody and
lyrics are traditional, so it can be performed with even
your youngest singers.
Actually, the setting has two parts, a “prelude”
that is intended for a solo voice, then the bouncy
version of the tune, complete with a happy “la”
melody for the intro and a final interlude. The
recording is broken into two parts so that you can just
do the tune by itself or in a more theatrical version
with the simple prelude and then the tune itself.
It’s a natural for a performance – picture one of
your youngest doing the sweet introduction, with your
children’s choir moving in during the opening of the

What To Expect
From Our Products...
We believe that if you listen to our products, they will speak for themselves,
which is why we make recorded excerpts of them readily available online and in
our interactive catalog. But we also thought that it might be nice to take a
moment and tell you a little more about what you will find when a product arrives.
Performance/Accompaniment Recordings - Virtually all of
Plank Road Publishing’s products have recordings that
feature at least two performances of each song. There is a
Full Performance, with children singing the words over the
appropriate accompaniments. Then, there is an
Accompaniment Only recording which features
just the accompaniment tracks and any sound
effects that aren’t meant to be performed by
the children.
All of our recordings are available on
professionally mastered, high-quality CDs.
Real Musicians – Real Instruments –
Great Recordings - We are proud of our recordings and
spend a lot of time doing them right. We use top professional musicians, playing
real instruments with orchestrations appropriate to the style of the
piece. If the song needs a string quartet, that’s what you’ll
hear. And if the tune calls for a rock band, it will be a
superb one, recorded in a way that your singers
will enjoy. If you listen to our song excerpts
online, you will hear big bands, polka bands,
folk groups, Dixieland groups, and full
orchestras as well.
Do we use synthesizers and electronic
keyboards? Certainly. We take a
truckload of them to every recording
session. But we go to these instruments to
find sounds that are unique to them. We
don’t use them instead of strings, banjos,
or saxophones.
Even though many other publishing companies charge much more for
their recordings, you will find that ours are unsurpassed in quality.
Legally Reproducible Music & Money-Saving Kits We pioneered the concept of legally reproducible music for music
educators. Virtually all of Plank Road Publishing’s products
come with the right to freely duplicate the music. Even
products that have separate Student Editions for sale come with
reproducible lyric sheets.
We always try to be sensitive to tight music budgets, so

Properly warming up young singers
can be tough, especially when you
have a limited amount of time with
them and when your singers are easily
distracted. By popular demand, Anne
and Teresa have created a fundamental
set of warm-ups designed with these
challenges in mind.
Anne Ellsworth is one of the
nation’s finest sopranos, and brings to
this project her extensive training with
top vocal instructors along with her
background with The San Francisco
Opera and many top choral groups. Of

success, as they carefully warm up the singers and establish the mood. In this

practical, methodical, and pedagogically sound. And as you might expect, they
have also included a couple of specially arranged “just for fun” exercises
guaranteed to loosen up your singers and help you relax them in rehearsal or
before a performance when this can be very important.

Boomwhackers ® are tuned percussion tubes
made from lightweight plastic that are played by
striking your leg, hand, a table, the floor, just
about anything! The neat thing is that any surface
you use will produce the same musical pitch.
Boomwhackers ® come in five different combinations.
The Pentatonic set includes six pitches: C’, D’, E’, G’,
A’, C”. The Diatonic set includes eight pitches: C’, D’,
E’, F’, G’, A’, B’, C”. The Bass Diatonic set includes seven
pitches: C to B. You can also order Chromatics and Bass
