OLD PADDOCK RESTAURANT
Welcome to Ascot Racecourse. We hope that this short guide will help you find your way around.
Restaurant Location
From the High Street, enter the racecourse via the main
turnstiles. The Old Paddock Restaurant is a red brick
building located to the West (left) of the Parade Ring.
Walk down the ramp or staircase from the Parade Ring
and the Old Paddock Restaurant is on the first floor
above the Irish Bar.
The Ascot experience
Gates open at 10:30am and guests receive a welcome
drink at their restaurant. Luncheon will be served at
12:15pm. The arrival of Her Majesty the Queen heralds
the start of the racing action. The Royal Procession
takes place at approximately 2pm on all five days of
Royal Ascot. Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal
Party will proceed from the Golden Gates down the
Straight Mile and around the Parade Ring.
Racing will commence at approximately 2:30pm and
conclude with the final race at 5:35pm. Racegoers are
welcome to visit the Parade Ring throughout the day
where the horses will parade prior to their race and
where the presentation to the winner is made after
the race. At 6pm racegoers are invited to join the
final event of the day, singing round the bandstand
accompanied by the military band which concludes
the Ascot experience.
Fine Dining Restaurant Information
To ensure that all racegoers have a pleasurable
experience we ask for your co-operation with a few
simple guidelines. Each guest should have an admission
ticket and a facility badge. To ensure efficient entry to
the racecourse, please present your admission ticket at
the turnstiles.
Please wear your facility badge to gain admission into
your restaurant. To proceed to your table promptly,
please ensure you are aware of the name of your
host and/or company name or the booking reference
number which your host will have. Ascot Hospitality
provides for most culinary tastes and we request that
you do not bring food or drink into the racecourse.
Many hosts like to reflect the traditional and special
values of Royal Ascot by asking their guests to comply
with the Royal Enclosure dress code, although it is not
compulsory for your facility.
Please refer to your host’s instructions for the dress
code for your party. We have detailed overleaf both
the Royal Enclosure and Grandstand Admission dress
codes for your information. Please note that this is a
new dress code for 2012 so please read carefully and
contact us if you have any queries.
Royal Enclosure Dress Code
Ladies
Ladies are kindly reminded that formal day wear is a
requirement in the Royal Enclosure, defined as follows:
• Dresses and skirts should be of modest length
defined as falling just above the knee or longer;
• Dresses and tops should have straps of one inch
or greater;
• Jackets and pashminas may be worn but dresses
and tops underneath should still comply with the
Royal Enclosure dress code;
• Trouser suits are welcome. They should be of full
length and of matching material and colour;
• Hats should be worn; a headpiece which has
a base of 4 inches (10cm) or more in diameter is
acceptable as an alternative to a hat.
Ladies are kindly asked to note the following:
• Strapless, off the shoulder, halter neck, spaghetti
straps and dresses with a strap of less than one
inch (2.5cm) are not permitted;
• Midriffs must be covered;
• Fascinators are no longer permitted in the Royal
Enclosure; neither are headpieces which do not
have a base covering a sufficient area of the head
(4 inches / 10cm).

Gentlemen
Gentlemen are kindly reminded that it is a requirement
to wear either black or grey morning dress which
must include:

Gentlemen are required to wear a suit with a shirt
and tie.
• A waistcoat and tie (no cravats); and
Travelling to Ascot
• A black or grey top hat; and
Ascot Racecourse is easily accessible by road from the
M25, M3, M4 and M40. Please note, the routes to your
car park may have changed. Maps showing the fastest
route to your allocated car park can be found on the
back of your car park label.
• Black shoes.
A gentleman may remove his top hat within a
restaurant, a private box, a private club or that facility’s
terrace, balcony or garden. Hats may also be removed
within any enclosed external seating area within the
Royal Enclosure Garden.
The customisation of top hats (with, for example,
coloured ribbons or bands) is not permitted in the
Royal Enclosure.
Overseas Visitors
Overseas visitors are welcome to wear the formal
National Dress of their country or Service Dress.
Serving Military Personnel
Serving military personnel are welcome to wear
Service Dress or equivalent. Grandstand Admission Dress Code
Ladies
Ladies within the main Grandstand enclosure are
encouraged to dress in a manner as befits a
formal occasion.
Ladies are kindly asked to take particular note of
the following:
• A hat, headpiece or fascinator should be worn
at all times;
• Strapless or sheer strap dresses and tops are
not permitted;
• Trousers must be full length and worn with a top
that adheres to the guidelines above
(i.e. strapless or sheer strap tops are not permitted);
• Jackets and pashminas may be worn but dresses
and tops underneath should still comply with the
Grandstand Admission dress code;
• Midriffs must be covered;
• Shorts are not permitted.
By train there is a direct 50 minute route from London
Waterloo and a direct 30 minute route from Reading.
Ascot is also easily accessible from London Heathrow.

racecourse. Please call Helicopter and Aviation

For fixed wing aircraft, the two nearest airfields are
Fairoaks, Chobham (01276 857 300) and White
Waltham, Maidenhead (01628 823 272) which are
both about nine miles away.
Terms AND Conditions
Tickets and badges are issued subject to the Rules
of Racing and the Terms and Conditions of Ascot
Racecourse and Ascot Hospitality. A full copy of the
terms and conditions can be found at ascot.co.uk or

with the terms and conditions may lead to admission
being refused or ejection.
