How to Review the Draft EIS and Make Comments Pursuant to the Council on Environmental Quality’s regulations, the U.S. Air Force invites public participation in the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process for the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Divert Activities and Exercises for Guam and Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). Anyone wishing to provide comments, suggestions, or relevant information on the Draft EIS, including the Proposed Action and alternatives, may do so using one of the following methods. The Public Scoping Period has ended and was from September 27, 2011, through November 10, 2011. The Draft EIS comment period extends from June 8, 2012, through July 23, 2012. The U.S. Air Force intends to hold Public Hearings on the following dates on Saipan and Tinian. Saipan (Public Hearing): Monday, June 25, 2012, 5:00pm – 8:00pm Tinian (Pubilc Hearing): Tuesday, June 26, 2012, 5:00pm – 8:00pm Written and oral comments and related material on the EIS and Proposed Action and alternatives submitted during the Draft EIS Public Comment Period must be received by July 23, 2012, to be considered in the Final EIS. If you submit a written comment, please include your name and address, and identify your comments as for the Guam and CNMI Divert Activities and Exercises EIS. Please be aware that written and oral statements could be published in the Final EIS. Private addresses will be compiled to develop a mailing list for those requesting copies of the Final EIS. However, only the names of private citizens will appear in the EIS; personal addresses and telephone numbers will not be published.
