Gary Matthews
Gary S. Matthews is a Managing Director and Operating Partner of MSPE and
is based in New York. Mr. Matthews joined Morgan Stanley in 2007 and has led
several private equity backed companies including, Simmons Bedding
Company, Sleep Innovations, Inc., and Derby Cycle Corporation. Mr. Matthews
also led several public company business units such as Worldwide Consumer
Medicines for Bristol Myers Squibb, and served as Managing Director UK for
Diageo/Guinness Limited and as President and CEO of Guinness Import
Company. He also held senior management positions at PepsiCo and
McKinsey & Company. Mr. Matthews sits on the Board of Directors for Van
Wagner (outdoor advertising), Lagunitas (Brewing) and Learning Care Group
and is Chairman of Tops Markets and Creative Circle LLC. Previously, Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he
sat on the boards of Molson Coors Brewing Company, Lenox China (previously Department 56) and
Canyon Ranch. Mr. Matthews holds a B.A., cum laude, from Princeton University and an M.B.A. with
Distinction from Harvard Business School.
Paul Echausse
Paul joined Alcentra in July 2008 and is Head of U.S. Mezzanine Investments.
Paul is responsible for the overall management and direction of fund investing,
including transaction sourcing, deal execution and the monitoring of portfolio
companies for Alcentra’s U.S. Mezzanine funds. Paul is a member of the U.S.
Investment Committee.
Prior to joining BNY Mellon in 1998, Paul was President of Kisco Capital
Corporation, the growth capital Small Business Investment Company affiliate of
Kohlberg & Co. L.L.C. Previously he was Chief Operating Officer of IBJS Capital
Corporation, the junior capital investment affiliate of IBJ Schroder Bank. Prior to IBJS, Paul was the
Assistant Division Head of Southeast Banking for the Bank of New York. Paul has served as President of
the Northeast Regional Association of Small Business Investment Companies and on the national board
of the National Association of Small Business Investment Companies.
Paul holds a B.S. from Fordham University (Phi Beta Kappa); an M.B.A. from New York University; and a
J.D. from Fordham Law School. Paul is a member of the Bar of the State of New York.

Dan Negrea
Mr. Negrea co-founded MTN Capital Partners in 2003 and the firm began investing in 2004. Since then,
MTN and its portfolio companies have been involved in acquisitions totaling
almost $500 million.
Before MTN, Mr. Negrea was an investment banker for 20 years. He held senior
positions in leveraged finance at Drexel Burnham, Bear Stearns, Chase
Securities, and ING Barings. At ING Barings, he served as head of high yield
capital markets.
During his career, Mr. Negrea worked with companies in almost every industry
and has raised over $15 billion in capital through a variety of financial
instruments including high yield bonds, senior secured notes, bank loans, mezzanine loans, and equity
securities.
Mr. Negrea is a director of Kings Supermarkets, Revolution Dancewear and JSI Store Fixtures. He is a
former director of The Orthotic Group.
Mr. Negrea has an M.B.A. from Cornell University and an M.A. in International Finance from the
University of Bucharest, Romania.
Mr. Negrea is a member of the Order of Malta.
