Opportunities Abound for Home Buyers
With only 14 single family homes sold in March In
Penticton, a decrease of 27.27% YTD over the same
period in 2012, sellers are having to decide between
staying put or adjusting their expectations to match the
market. Similar performance is seen across the entire
South Okanagan. Inventory is also down 14.4% at the
same time last year. Prices continue to erode at a rate of
approximately 1/2 of one percent per month and interest
rates look as if they will continue to stay at their historic
lows for the foreseeable future. What does all this
mean? Buyers waiting to see how low prices will drop,
and fail to act now, will likely be looking back in the
next few years saying they should have bought in 2013.
Seller must now decide to either bite the bullet, sell
their homes for what the market will bear and get on
with life, or continue to feel frustrated and discouraged
in the markets performance for a few more years.
