How to Set up your School Day at BSDE
How to Set up your School Day at BSDE
In order to ensure your transition to BSDE is successful and smooth, please find
following a checklist of things you should do on a daily basis.
The username and password that have been provided by BSDE will provide access
to the Daily Notices, MIS Email, iConnect, The Learning Place and Blackboard.
 Step 1:
Start each morning by checking the Daily Notices LINK This is where
teacher absences will be recorded. If a teacher is listed on the Daily
Notices, Scheduled Lessons (SLs) with that teacher will be cancelled
for the day. If this is the case, you will need to complete coursework
during the SL time instead.
 Step 2:
Check your MIS Webmail Account LINK. This is where teachers will
send you important information regarding your lessons and course
materials. It is good practice to check your MIS email account a few
times during the course of each day.
 Step 3:
If you have Scheduled Lessons (SLs) during the day, you will need to
work around these sessions to complete the rest of your coursework.
Please remember to check your timetable and make sure you are
available for all of your SLs. You can access your SLs by linking
through the iConnect Manager LINK. For help on how to connect to
SLs, please read the helpsheet ‘Join Web Conferencing’.
 Step 4:
If you have blank periods on your timetable, you need to use this time
to work independently to complete your coursework. Most coursework
will be available by linking through eLearn/Blackboard LINK. The
Work Rate Calendars (WRCs) will identify which work you should
currently be doing and when it is due back to the school. Please
ensure you are keeping in line with the WRCs for each subject you are
studying (or your year level WRC for Prep-Year 6, Year 7 – 9, Year 1012) LINK.
The Get Started information has two documents, Get Organised (P-6) and Get
Organised (7-12), which contain a place to record all of your teacher’s contact
details and passwords for scheduled lessons. Update these documents as you
receive the information (contact details/passwords/passcodes) from your teachers.
It is very important to keep the school informed about your absences from your
schooling, including scheduled lessons. Please follow the instructions provided in the
Absences section of the school website (hover over the Students tab and scroll down
to Absences) LINK.
NB: It is a good idea to structure your day as you would if you were attending a
mainstream school and to allocate each period of your timetable to complete
work for a particular subject. For example, if you have a SL in period 2: 9.10am-
10:20am and then another in period 4: 12:35pm-1:45pm, you should use the time in
between to complete other work as given in your course materials (e.g.
WRC/Learning guides/eLearn). Use class time effectively, anything you do not
complete during the period becomes homework.
