Starting with the upcoming semester a new education management system (BOKUonline)
will be available. The old system (BLIS) will only be useable as a read-only archive. New
data is only accessible in BOKUonline.
If you are looking for courses or if you want to register for a course or an exam, please

How to look for courses?
Unfortunately the English translation of BOKUonline has not been finished yet.
The easiest way to find your courses is the following:
 Go to http://online.boku.ac.at/
 Go to „Suche“ (search) in the box at the top
 Scroll down to „Lehrveranstaltungen” (courses)

 Click on “English” (middle of the page/center)
Write a keyword next to “Suchbegriff” or type a course number
 Make sure that you look for courses in the right study year = “Studienjahr” =
2009/2010
 Make sure that you look for courses in the right semester: alle = all, Winter = winter
semester (October – January), Sommer = summer semester (February – June)
 Click on “Suchen” (search)
Attention:
You can also search for courses with “Vortragssprache” (language of instruction) English –
more than 270 courses are offered in English at the moment.
Explanations for the list of results:
LV-NR = course number
Zeit = Time
Ort = place
LV-Titel = title of the course
Dauer = contact hours a week
Art = course type
Anm. = registration
P/W/Dr = information to which study programmes this course belongs – please click here to
find the ECTS
Vortragende = lecturer
Betreut von = institute in charge
Remember that you are free to choose courses from all different curricula, but make sure
that you fulfil the specific requirements of the course. If necessary you can change your
learning agreement upon arrival. Please note that you have to register for all the courses to
be able to take the exam. For the online-registration you need a BOKUonline-login, which
you will get only some days after your personal registration at the “Studienabteilung”
(admission office) on your arrival. Therefore please plan to arrive at BOKU before the
semester starts!

Please review carefully
 if all courses will be offered in the semester when you want to take them
 if they are offered in English or German
 if you have the required background knowledge (if applicable)
 how you have to register
 when and where the first session will take place
 if any of your courses overlap.
Another possibility to find your courses is to look for the courses of the special study
programmes, but be careful: Unfortunately only some of the courses have been filled in by
now!

Introduction courses to BOKU online
To make the usage of the new system as easy as possible for you, the Center for Education
(ZfL) will provide two introduction courses (in German) together with the Center for IT
Services (ZID):
 Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, 1.00 p.m. - 3.00 p.m. at HS XX (Muthgasse)
 Wednesday , Sept. 30, 2009, 1.00 p.m. - 3.00 p.m. at HS GH 01 (Guttenberghaus)
Prof. Hinterstoisser (ZfL) and Mr. Weissmann (ZID) will give the presentation.
In addition the Center for International Relations (ZIB) offers introduction courses in English
especially for exchange students:
 Tuesday, 22.9.2009, 14.00, EG 28 (Exner-Haus)
During the Welcome Days:
 Thursday 1.10.2009, 15.00-16.00 Uhr in EG 28 (Exner-Haus)
 Thursday 1.10.2009, 16.00-17.00 Uhr in EG 28 (Exner-Haus)
You have to register for the introduction courses in English. Information about the
registration will follow!
Additional Information
The functions ‚Completed Courses‘ (including the printing option for certificates and course
descriptions) and ‘Studienverlauf’ (=progress of study) are still available in the BLIS-archive.
IMPORTANT: Exam Registration
The new application ‘Prüfungs-An/Abmeldung’ (=Exam Registration) is accessible via your
personal homepage in BOKUonline (login required). Current registrations and waitlist
positions have been migrated to the new system.
Evaluation of Courses up to the last semester (SS 2009) must be done in the BLIS-Archive.
Starting with the winter term 2009/10 this functionality will be available in BOKUonline.
Due to the current migration to BOKUonline, printing of ‘Studienbestätigungen’ (confirmation
of enrolment) will not be possible during the next weeks. We appreciate your understanding.
Further information and documentation can be found online at the ZID’s service pages. While
most of the documents are available in German only right now, we are working on providing
the needed information in English as soon as possible:

BOKUonline – Allgemeine Informationen1
Mit Beginn des neuen Studienjahres 2009/10 steht ein neues Lehrinformationssystem
(BOKUonline) zur Verfügung. Das bisherige System BLIS steht daher künftig ausschließlich
als Archiv im Lesemodus zur Verfügung. Die neu erfassten Daten ab Ende Juli finden Sie
nur mehr im BOKUonline.
Für die Suche nach geeigneten Kursen (=Lehrveranstaltungen, LV), für die Anmeldung zu
Lehrveranstaltungen und Prüfungen benützen Sie bitte ab sofort BOKUonline:

Wie finde ich meine Lehrveranstaltungen?
Beachten Sie, dass Sie Kurse (=Lehrveranstaltungen) aus den verschiedenen
Studienrichtungen wählen können, solange Sie die spezifischen Anforderungen für die
einzelnen Kurse erfüllen. Notfalls können nach der Ankunft an der BOKU auch noch
Änderungen im Learning Agreement durchgeführt werden.
Achtung! Sie müssen sich für jeden Kurs in BOKUonline anmelden, um die Prüfung ablegen
zu können! Für die Online-Anmeldung benötigen Sie einen BOKUonline-login, den Sie erst
einige Tage nach Ihrer persönlichen Inskription in der Studienabteilung erhalten. Planen Sie
daher Ihre Ankunft VOR Semesterbeginn!

Bitte überprüfen Sie genau,
 ob die Kurse auch im richtigen Semester angeboten werden: Wintersemester (=
Oktober bis Jänner) oder Sommersemester (= Februar bis März)
 ob sie auf Deutsch oder Englisch angeboten werden,
 ob Sie die nötigen Voraussetzungen erfüllen (falls spezielle Voraussetzungen
angegeben sind)
 wie Sie sich anmelden müssen
 wann und wo der erste Kurstermin stattfinden wird
 ob sich Ihre gewählten Kurse nicht überschneiden.
Einführungsveranstaltungen
Um Ihnen den Einstieg in das System so leicht wie möglich zu machen, bietet das Zentrum
für Lehre (ZfL) gemeinsam mit dem Zentralen Informatikdienst (ZID) neben den
umfangreichen Online-Unterlagen auch zwei Einführungsveranstaltungen an:
 Dienstag, 29.9. 09, 13.00 - 15.00 Uhr im HS XX (Muthgasse)
 Mittwoch, 30.9.2009, 13.00 - 15.00 Uhr im HS GH 01 (Guttenberghaus)
Frau Prof. Hinterstoisser (ZfL) und Herr Weissmann (ZID) werden durch die Präsentation
führen.
Darüber hinaus bietet das Zentrum für Internationale Beziehungen (ZIB) in Kooperation mit
dem Zentralen Informatikdienst Einführungsveranstaltungen speziell für
Austauschstudierende an (in englischer Sprache):

Weitere Informationen
Sie können nach wie vor die Funktionen „Abgelegte Prüfungen“ (inkl. Ausdruckmöglichkeit
der Zeugnisse und LV-Inhalte) und „Studienverlaufsanalyse“ im BLIS-Archiv nutzen. Daten,
die nach dem 31.7.2009 erfasst wurden stehen aber auch hier nicht zur Verfügung, sondern
können ausschließlich über BOKUonline abgerufen werden.
WICHTIG: Anmelden zu Prüfungen
Die Applikation „Prüfungs-An/Abmeldung“ steht für Sie in Ihrer BOKUonline-Visitenkarte
zur Verfügung (Login erforderlich). Die bestehenden Prüfungsanmeldungen wurden inklusive
Wartelisten und Reihung ins neue System übernommen.
Die Evaluierung von Lehrveranstaltungen bis zum SS 2009 erfolgt ausschließlich im BLISArchiv. Ab dem WS 2009/2010 steht diese Funktionalität auch im BOKUonline zur
Verfügung.
