Thank you for again volunteering to support this year’s Derwen college walk.
Please find attached a list of checkpoints, operators NGR’s (OS Map 126) and on air times. You are requested to be at your checkpoint 15 minutes before the on air time to allow for radio checks etc. The
Walk itself is due to start at 14:00 but in past years it has sometimes started up to 30 minutes earlier than
this so an early arrival at your duty station would be advisable.
As in previous years it would be helpful if operators at checkpoints could note and report the times of the
first and last walkers through their checkpoint.
Raynet personnel operating from one of the college minibus vehicles will need to bring their own suitable
mobile mount and also a suitable radio with a cigar lighter plug or crocodile clips for power supply.
Please also consider the Voltage of the vehicle and ensure any cigar/dc output is at the required voltage
for your equipment.
Also the mobile (walking) operators will need to equip themselves for a ten mile walk and also require
suitable footwear and water proof clothing and again suitable radios.

Due to the operating difficulties we experience with the Start and from the far side of
the course we are trialling an inband talkthru/repeater on this years derwen.
T he operating frequency will be 145.225 with the usual negative repeater shift of
600 K hz.
So your T x F requency will be 144.625 and receive frequency will be 145.225.
If you have any issues or radios not capable of repeater shifting please contact me
asap so we can make ar rangements.
Once the last mobile marshal has passed through your checkpoint they will inform control and closure of
the checkpoint can then be confirmed.

Should you find you are unable to assist due to exceptional unforeseen circumstances, please let one of
the above know with as much notice as possible, so that we are able to find a replacement in good time.
