SUNSET
•
Plan where you will be with sunset.
•
Place your lights into the crate at the checkpoint
before the one you are aiming for to be at when it
gets dark. (for incase something goes wrong) You
don’t want to be without lights in the dark.
BERGPLAAS
•
Checkpoint #4 on top of the mountain.
•
Not the highest point, but the M.A.C is a 10km climb
with 500m ascent at about 130km into the race.
•
Take time to enjoy the stars!
•
The “Big” downhill of the race.
•
Take care going down there at night.

Chasing the light
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBEkRDDrAtI
•
You need 3 lights: Headlamp, Main Light and a tail light.
•
Battery run time is the most important aspect when
looking at lights
•
You need a proper wide beam light spread for the
downhills.
•
Headlamps are an important back up light and for doing
any tasks at night. (mechanicals / food / stopping)
•
Take a headlamp that runs of AAA batteries that you can
carry spares for.
Checkpoint #5
•
First place where you will meet your support
driver.
•
Huge psychological barrier to overcome to reach
this point.
•
Be careful to not spend too much time here.
•
Only one way and that is one pedal stroke at a
time
NEVER ENDE
