Frequently asked questions
What if I can't attend a webinar?
Each webinar will be recorded so you can access the presentation after the
conclusion of the webinar. If you cannot attend, you must inform the appropriate
person. If you require a link to the recording please contact Ann Brady and
request a copy.
What if I have questions or need assistance in between webinars?
At the first webinar you will be advised who to contact depending on
whether your question relates to the RTO, attendance, learning activities,
assessment tasks etc.
What is my assessment deadline?
You will be advised of the due date for each assessment task. This information
will be provided in the Program Outline and reminders will be provided during
the webinars.
How do I submit my completed assessment tasks?
The steps for submitting your assessment tasks are included in the instructions
for each task. Generally you will be asked to either upload your work or to
hand it directly to the assessor if you are assessed in a face to face
environment.
What if I can’t submit my completed assessment tasks by the deadline?
If you are unable to submit your work by the due date you must advise the
lead trainer as soon as possible. An extension request must be made in writing
and no later than one week prior to the due date.
Each request will be dealt with individually and no more than two extensions
can be granted for any assessment task.
I’m not sure I can complete the assessment tasks as described. What
are my options?
We can negotiate a flexible option. If it would help make the assessment more
‘accessible’ to you, we’re happy to make a reasonable adjustment to the
assessment process. We can’t compromise the quality of the assessment, though.
Please discuss your options with your lead trainer.
Will my assessment records be kept confidential?
Yes! Assessment records are stored securely, and won’t be shared with
anyone who is not authorised to view them.

What are the possible assessment results?
The only possible assessment results you can get are:
Result
Code What this result means
Competent
C
Celebrate! You have earned a statement of attainment for each
unit/s of competency assessed.
Satisfactory
S
Good. You have successfully completed the task.
Not yet
satisfactory
NYS
There are two possible reasons for a NYS result:
● The evidence you submitted was of a satisfactory standard, but
not all the required evidence was submitted (in this case, all you
need to do is submit the remaining required evidence)
● The evidence you submitted was not of a satisfactory standard.
If you attain a NYS result, your assessor will advise you on the
steps needed to achieve a satisfactory result. PLEASE NOTE: you
have two opportunities to resubmit your work. If you are still
not yet satisfactory then we can offer one to one support
which will incur an additional fee.
Will I get my evidence returned to me once the assessment tasks have
been completed?
No, you will receive feedback on your work, a result and either statements of
attainment for the completed unit/s of competency or a qualification. We
advise you to keep a copy of your work and any feedback received.
What if I disagree with the assessment result?
If you disagree with your assessment result, you have the right to appeal the
decision. Please follow the process listed below:
1. Discuss your concerns with your assessor. If you don’t arrive at a mutually
beneficial solution…
2. Contact Kiama Community College. We’ll help you get started with your
formal appeal.
