College bound students typically complete course work beyond the traditional 16 units recommended by many colleges. Our students will often complete 4 years of mathematics, 4 years of Science, 3- 4 years of World Language and additional units of academic electives. Advanced Placement courses are currently offered in English Literature and Composition, English Language and Composition, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, United States History, World History, Calculus - AB, Biology, Chemistry, Physics B, Physics C, Computer Science, Music Theory and Art History. Honors courses are offered in English , World History, U.S. History I, Geometry, Algebra II, PreCalculus, Spanish, French, Italian, Biology, Chemistry, Physics , Chorus and Band. All Honors and AP classes are weighted. An “H” identifies these courses after the course title. AP courses have that designation in the title. Before calculating Grade Point Average (GPA), 6 points are added to the final grade of each Honors course and 9 points are added to the final grade of each AP course. GPA and class rank are cumulative and are calculated as follows: For each course, the final grade is multiplied by the credit assigned to that course. The total number of attempted credits divides the sum of the products of all attempted courses. The average, the GPA, is used to determine class rank. Grading Scale up until 6/2013 A+ = 97-100 A = 92-96 B+ = 88-91 B = 83-87 C+ = 79-82 C = 74-78 D = 70-73 F = Below 70 Grading Scale as of 9/2013 A+ = 97-100 A = 93-96 A- = 90-92 B+ = 87-89 B = 83-86 B- = 80-82 C+ = 77-79 C = 73-76 C- = 70-72 D = 65-69 F = 64 and below SAT Statistics 2013 National Merit Program YEAR 2013 MATH CR.READ WRITING 526 498 496 PPBHS 522 499 500 NJ 496 488 NATIONAL 514 6 Commended Scholars AP Scholars AP Scholars 13 AP Scholars with Distinction 14 AP Scholars with Honor 7 National AP Scholars 3 AP Statistics Of the 256 Advanced Placement tests administered in May 2013, 83% of the scores were 3 or higher.
