APPLICATION OF RESINOID GRINDING WHEEL CLASSIFICATION TYPE A Aluminum Oxide Silicon Carbide WA C GC FEATURES AND APPLICATION Brown Aluminum Oxide, it is a very tough, sharp abrasive, Eminently suitable for the grinding of metal of high tensile strength. White Aluminum Oxide, it is hard and extra-friable, and its High purity makes it suitable for application requiring minimum Contamination of foreign substances. Used for hard sensitive steel, such as stainless & alloy steel. Black silicon carbide, used for cast iron and non-ferrous metals Like aluminum and copper, and nonmetallic material, such as Concrete & brick. Green silicon carbide, used for special alloy and very hard material such as glass & ceramic etc. 5 SAFETY IN THE USE OF GRINDING WHEELS. IMPORTANCE OF PROPER MACHINE MAINTENANCE • Since the more common causes of wheel breakage have been traced to improper mounting, excessive speeds, abusive operation and/or careless handling of the grinder. • Proper and regular maintenance service and inspection procedures obviously are of great importance in preventing wheel breakage. • Regular inspection and maintenance procedures are a must and are the responsibility of the users. • All portable type grinders should be inspected at regular intervals to ensure that the mounting flanges are in good condition, of the proper size and shape, that the speed governing device is functioning properly, and that no damage has occurred to the grinder or wheel as a result of abusive use or careless handling. SAFE OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS DOs DONTs 1. Always handle and store wheels in a careful manner. 1. Don’t use a wheel that has been dropped. The impact may result in breakage. 2. Always check maximum operating speed established for wheel against machine speed. 2. Don’t force a wheel on to the machine or alter the size of the arbor hold. Don’t use a wheel that fits the arbor too loosely, if the wheel doesn’t fit the machine, get one that does. 3. Always check mounting flanges for equal and correct diameter (Should be at least 1/3 diameter of the wheel and relieved around hole) 4. Always use mounting blotters supplies with wheels. 3. Don’t exceed maximum operating speed established for the wheel. 5. Always be sure work rest if properly adjusted. (Center of wheel or above; no more than 1/8 away from wheel) 4. Don’t use mounting unless they are 1/3 the diameter of the wheel and are clean, flat and free of burrs. 6. Always use a safety guard covering at least one-half of the grinding wheel. 5. Don’t over tighten the mounting nut excessively. 6. Don’t grind on the side of the wheel unless wheel is specifically designed for that purpose. 7. Always allow newly mounted wheels to run at operating speed with guard in place, for at least 1 minute before grinding. 7. Don’t start the machine until the wheel guard is in place. 8. Always wear protective goggles or other protective. 8. Don’t jam work into the wheel. 9. Always turn off coolant before stopping wheel to avoid creating an out-of-balance condition. 9. Don’t stand directly in front of a grinding wheel when a grinder is started. 6 10. Don’t grind material for which the wheel is not designed. STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS DOs DONTs 1. Do store wheels in a dry place at a constant temprature. 1. Don’t store wheels in a damp place, or in extreme hot or cold temperatures. 2. Do provide proper racks, bins or drawers for storing various type of wheels. 2. Don’t store wheels on edge with only one point touching shelf. 3. Do store straight and tapered wheel on edge in racks with two point cradle support, and partitions separating wheels. 3. Don’t store wheels on edge without guard to prevent rolling 4. Do use flat shelf for storing thin wheels with resinbond, Lay them flat to prevent warping. 4. Don’t handle wheels carelessly, grinding wheels are brittle and break easily. 5. Do stack large flaring cup wheels on flat shelf face-to-face and base-to-base. 5. Don’t bump or drop wheels against one another or other objects. 6. Do use bins, boxes or drawers to store internal wheels, cups and other small wheels. 6. Don’t roll abrasive wheels across a surface. 7. Don’t pile heavy objects on top of wheels, treat them as you would other fine tools. 7 OFFSET (DEPRESSED CENTER) GRINDING/CUTTING WHEELS TYPE 27/ 42 FOR USE ON ANGLE GRINDERS APPLICATION TAILIN manufactures a complete line of depressed center reinforced grinding / cutting wheel for all applications.
