Peaceful Parlour owner Shari Ralish hosts a quarterly moon lodge for women and
girls of all ages to gather in a supportive environment to share stories and wisdom.
This is a free event. A brief presentation is given then each person has a turn with the
talking stick. We end with a short meditation. Past topics have included Nourishing

Northern Illinois Food Bank’s (NIFB) Board of Directors appointed Julie Yurko President and CEO of Northern Illinois Food Bank. Yurko was NIFB’s Vice President of
Philanthropy and Communications.
The Daily Herald received seven Illinois Associated Press Media Editors awards,
including special recognition in the sports breaking news category for coverage of the
Chicago Blackhawks 2013 Stanley Cup victory.
Rose Vicker was honored as Marklund’s employee of the year. With 30 years of dedication and evident compassion for individuals in this population, she has impacted
the lives of hundreds of individuals with disabilities while being employed as a Physical Therapy Assistant at Marklund.

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley student Em Thu Tran was honored with a Spotlight on

with Dennis DeRossett, executive director of the Illinois Press Association, to recognize outstanding students in Illinois literacy programs. Thu was one of 10 students in
the State of Illinois to receive the award.

Congratulations to Sheavoun Lambillotte, Geneva Park District (GPD) Executive Director for 15 years of service with GPD.
The City of Geneva’s 2012-13 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) received the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States
and Canada has awarded Geneva with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence
in Financial Reporting.
Geneva ACE Hardware has been recognized with a Pinnacle Performance Retailing
Award from Ace Hardware Corp., based on outperforming other stores during the
2013 calendar year. Last year was the first year a store could win this prestigious
award.
The Daily Herald’s combined print and digital readership continues to increase,

Mill Race Cyclery owner Bruce Heidlauf surprised a 100 year old GreenFields of
Geneva resident with a customized adult tricycle last month. The resident had loved
to ride, but had not had the opportunity for 50 years. On the small looped course
created by Mill Race Cyclery staff, Bruce said he had to run alongside her to keep up.

Happy Place Community Karma Yoga – Tuesdays in August
FREE yoga, so generously donated by Going To My Happy Place staff in the tradition
of yoga karma. If you would like to join in and experience our free yoga- Tuesday is

A new take on the thrill-seeking military style obstacle course. A family-friendly event
where children are welcome to participate on a course of their own! The event will be
held at Good Templar Park. Adults will experience a 5k run while traversing up to

“The Groom Has Cold Feet” Auditions – August 11 - 13
Playhouse 38 will host auditions for its Murder Mystery Production of The Groom Has
