Each year Ronald McDonald House BC provides 73 families with a home away from home. In
one year that is almost 30,000 nights. This event helps us raise the money necessary to keep
families together for the entire year.
The RMH BC A Night to Dream Gala is heading in to it’s 12th year and is the largest fundraising
event for Ronald McDonald House BC. The evening features; a cocktail reception, an exquisite
3-course meal, a unique silent and live auction, as well as talented live entertainment and is a
fantastic night out for a great cause.
The A Night to Dream Gala offers many opportunity for corporate promotion including:

With our new House now open, we would like to recognize a leader who
has made a profound impact on this project: Gary Segal. His generous
gifts of time and expertise have made it possible for us to build a 73
bedroom Ronald McDonald House BC and better meet the needs of BC
and Yukon families who depend on our services.
Gary Segal is president of Kingswood Capital Corporation and a noted Vancouver philanthropist. In his
leadership roles at such organizations as the Louis Brier Home and Hospital for Seniors and Spread the Love
Project for Ethiopia, Gary has been committed to ensuring that families both locally and internationally have
the support they need to thrive.
Gary has served on the Board of Directors of Ronald McDonald House BC since 2008 and has been an
invaluable member of this organization. Gary recognized the vital need to provide more accommodation for
seriously ill children and their families in BC, and became the Chair of our Capital Campaign to build our new
House. He has been instrumental in lobbying for and securing many major gifts to the Campaign, including a
$13.375 matching grant from the Government of British Columbia.
Gary’s outstanding support means that 73 families each night have a ‘home away from home.’ We would like
to thank him for his many contributions to Ronald McDonald House BC and for his incredible generosity to so
many worthy organizations.

Since 1983, Ronald McDonald House® British Columbia has opened its doors and arms to
overwhelmed families who need to keep the spirit of hope alive as they engage in the fight of
their lives.
Far from home. Financially strained. Emotionally drained. Every year, thousands of families
come to Vancouver in search of life-saving medical treatment for their seriously ill children.
Finding themselves in a strange city and in a vulnerable state, these families long for life’s
simple comforts: a bed to sleep in, a kitchen to prepare a hot meal and a couch to put up their
feet after a long day at the hospital.
More than anything though, they seek a safe and affordable place where their family can stay
together under one roof. Within our walls, kids undergoing treatment for cancer and other
devastating diseases bask in the glow of family love. Here, parents under siege share stories
with others who face similar challenges. And here, people have access to services that help
put some joy and normalcy back into their lives.
Ronald McDonald House® British Columbia is more than just a place for families to stay – it’s
a place for families to heal better together.

Who is eligible to stay at Ronald McDonald House® BC?
Ronald McDonald House® British Columbia serves families who live
beyond communities that comprise the Metro Vancouver region.
Children, from birth to 19 years who are being treated at BC
Children’s or other Vancouver area medical facilities, and their
families are eligible to stay at the House.
How long do families usually stay at Ronald McDonald House® BC?
Stays can be as short as one night or as long as several months, and
sometimes extend to a year or more, depending on the child's illness
and treatment.
Who owns and operates Ronald McDonald House® BC?
Ronald McDonald House® British Columbia is owned and operated
by the Children’s Family House Society of BC. Each of the 328 Ronald
McDonald Houses worldwide is owned and operated by a local notfor-profit society.
How are Ronald McDonald Houses funded?
Generous supporters like you help fund Ronald McDonald Houses.
The majority of our programming funds come from individuals,
organizations and businesses.
