A VERY BIG WELCOME to all of you who do not know St Oswald's very
well. After the 11 am service there will be tea and coffee and home-made
goodies, and a chance to chat, in the Institute building across the road from the
church and we always have a good time!
QUIET PRAYER GROUP meet tomorrow, October 13th, 8pm at 31 Wearside
Drive . All welcome.
TAKE A WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE and see photographs of parish
people in the past, some from any years ago. Tuesday 14th October
10am-Noon, in the Institute. There will be refreshments, a raffle and time to
chat. Everyone welcome.
'JUNGLE' TACKLING AT BOW CEMETERY opposite St Mary's College.
-Tuesday 21 October 1pm-3.30pm, , Please come and help for any part of the
time. Refreshments provided. Contact: Alison 374 1709/07599 505392. You'll
find us at the top of cemetery, above the cottage, cutting back shrubs
and pulling out roots (enter by lych-gate and walk up).
LOGOS - is meeting this Tuesday at 1.00pm in the parish office (across the
road from the Church in the Institute). This is a meeting to read and discuss the
lessons for the coming Sunday’s Parish Eucharist. A light lunch is
provided, all welcome.
EFFECTIVE LISTENING SKILLS course of six sessions, delivered by
Durham Christian Partnership, will start on 18th October, at Witton Gilbert.

THE STUDENT GROUP will be restarting this evening, Sunday 12th, at
7.15pm in the Church. The group meets at this time every week in term to
do a bible study, but there will also be some socials later on. If you have any
questions talk to John or any of the students.
TO ALL STUDENTS - if you like home cooked food and would like to get
to know some of the congregation here at St Oswald's a little better please
ask Craig or Vivienne (in the choir) about being matched with a host for a
meal at their home. If you have any dietary requirements would you let us
know so that the match works out well. We're not promising cakes and puddings to match those on TV but a number of people would be happy to share
their meal and knowledge of Durham life with you.
CHOIR - If any student is interested joining the choir please just speak to
David Harris after the service.
EVENTS COMMITTEE meeting is this Tuesday Oct 14th at 7.30pm at
47, Willowtree Ave ( DH1 1EA )All welcome, do please send your ideas,
even if you can't come.
DURHAM CHURCHES TOGETHER - One World Week: October 23rd.
at 7.15 pm, at St. Antony’s Priory: ‘Swords into Ploughshares’ is the subject
of an address by Fr. Martin Newell CP, a committed campaigner against all
forms of warfare. The talk will be followed by a discussion. Please book
ahead a seat - and also supper, served at 6pm (cost £5) if required:

FOODBANK UPDATE: Items most needed at present are tinned vegetables, fruit, fish and meat, and long-life fruit juice. Many thanks to everyone

ST OSWALD'S SCHOOL will have a "Opening event" in mid October.
It will start at 4.00 ish and Parishioners will be welcome to look around
and admire the "new school" Please look out for details later.
