Special-purpose machine manufacturer’s excellent technological know-how honored with award
Der Sondermaschinenbauer USK aus Limbach-Oberfrohna gehört zu den Top-Partnern des Volkswagen-Konzerns. Als einer
von 18 weltweiten Lieferanten insgesamt
hat er den „Volkswagen Group Award 2014“
erhalten. Die Auszeichnung erfolgte im
Juni 2014 während einer Gala im PorscheWerk Leipzig. Rund 250 Gäste aus 28 Ländern nahmen an der Veranstaltung teil.

ie USK Karl Utz Sondermaschinen
GmbH erhielt den Preis in der Kategorie „Innovationen“ für exzellentes
technologisches Know-how, insbesondere
als Entwicklungspartner für die Montage
des integrierten Ventiltriebmoduls und die
zuverlässige Begleitung des weltweiten
Rollouts. USK habe außerdem maßgeblich
zur Absicherung der Montage des Antriebs
von e-up! und e-Golf beigetragen. Innovative Ideen und Produkte machen USK zu einem geschätzten Partner des Volkswagen
Konzerns.
Den Award überreichten der VW-Vorstandsvorsitzende Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn und
Dr. Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, Konzernvorstand für den Geschäftsbereich Beschaffung. „Unser Volkswagen Group Award ist
wie eine kleine automobile Weltmeisterschaft. Wer hier dabei ist, der gehört zu den
Besten der Welt. Gemeinsam mit unseren
Lieferanten arbeiten wir an wegweisenden
Technologien und Innovationen mit durchgängig hoher Qualität“, so Winterkorn. Mit
Blick auf die Zukunft sagte er weiter: „Die
Automobilindustrie steht vor fundamentalen Umbrüchen. Wir stellen uns den zukünftigen Herausforderungen nicht nur, sondern sind ein Motor für die Mobilität von
Morgen. Dafür werden wir auch die Partnerschaft mit unseren Lieferanten auf ein ganz
neues Niveau heben“.
Garcia Sanz bedankte sich bei den Top-Lieferanten für ihre hervorragende Leistung.
Die Erfolge des Konzerns seien nur mit starken Partnern möglich. „Um mit unserem Lieferantennetzwerk die Zukunft zu gestalten,
werden wir in unserer neuen Initiative
„Volkswagen FAST – Future Automotive
Supply Tracks“ mit unseren wichtigsten
Partnern noch enger und noch schneller als
bisher zu den strategischen Themen Globalisierung und Innovation zusammen arbeiten. Wir werden unsere weltweiten Planungen früher verzahnen und gemeinsam noch
effizienter Innovationen umsetzen“.
Zu den Partnern des VW-Konzerns gehört
weiterhin die USK. Das Unternehmen der
Utz-Gruppe entwickelt und fertigt seit
Gründung im Jahr 1990 erfolgreich Sondermaschinen und Industrieanlagen der Montage‐, Handhabungs‐ und Prüftechnik für
Unternehmen weltweit. Die Kunden kommen nicht nur aus dem Automotivebereich,
sondern auch aus Branchen wie Photovoltaik, Elektrotechnik/Elektronik, Medizintechnik, Haustechnik und Textiltechnik. Mit rund
340 Mitarbeitern an den Standorten Limbach-Oberfrohna/Sachsen und Korb/BadenWürttemberg gehört USK zu den führenden
Sondermaschinenbauern in Europa. Ende
März nahm das Unternehmen einen neuen
Standort in Limbach-Oberfrohna in Betrieb.
Mit diesem Schritt wurden die Weichen für
weiteres Wachstum gestellt und wichtige
Wettbewerbsvorteile im internationalen Geschäft geschaffen. Hauptgesellschafter Thilo
Utz und Geschäftsführer Holger Kühne sind
stolz, dass diese Investition bereits mit einer
Spitzenplatzierung beim Volkswagen Group
Award Früchte trägt. Für die Geschäftsführung und die gesamte Mannschaft ist diese
Auszeichnung Ansporn und Bestätigung
zugleich.

won the “Volkswagen Group Award 2014.”
The award ceremony took place in June
2014 during a gala at Porsche Leipzig. The
event was attended by around 250 guests
from 28 countries.

know-how, in particular as a development
partner for the assembly of the integrated
valve train module and for reliable support
of the worldwide rollout. USK is also considered to have contributed significantly to securing the assembly of the drive for the
e-up! and e-Golf. Innovative ideas and products make USK a valued partner of the Volkswagen Group.

Winterkorn. With an eye to the future, he continued: “The automotive industry is on the
verge of radical changes. We are not only
facing up to future challenges, we are an engine for the mobility of tomorrow. That is
why we will also be taking our partnerships
with our suppliers to a whole new level.”
Garcia Sanz thanked the top suppliers for
their excellent efforts, noting that the success
of the Group is only possible with strong
partners. “In our new initiative, ‘Volkswagen
FAST – Future Automotive Supply Tracks,’ we
will shape the future with our supplier network by working with our most important
partners more closely and quickly than ever
on the strategic topics of globalization and
innovation. We will align our global plans
earlier and implement even more efficient
innovations together.”
USK remains one of VW Group’s partners.
Since its founding in 1990, the Utz Group
company has been successfully developing
and manufacturing special-purpose ma-

chines and industrial systems for assembly,
handling, and testing technology for companies around the world. They have customers not just in the automotive sector, but also in industries such as photovoltaics, electronics, medical technology, building services, and textile engineering. With around 340
employees at its Limbach-Oberfrohna (Saxony) and Korb (Baden-Württemberg) locations, USK ranks among the leading manufacturers of special-purpose machines in Europe. In late March, the company brought a
new location on line in Limbach-Oberfrohna.
This step set the course for further growth
and created important competitive advantages in terms of international business.
