Sat. 21 Feb. 2015. Thames Path Stage 16. Cookham to Mill End – 10 1/2 miles
Car drivers should meet at the car park between Mill End & Hambledon just to the north of the A4155 at 10.15 hrs. Grid Ref. Landranger 175 / SU784855
Note that this is on the north bank of the river whereas the walk is on the south bank so we will enjoy an interesting crossing later (hopefully!).
We will then car shuffle to Cookham car park at Grid Ref. SU893853 to commence the walk. Please do not drive directly to Cookham unless directed in
advance by the leader.
Train travellers should either buy a return ticket to Cookham station (located at Cookham Rise) & arrange with the leader for a lift back afterwards, or
buy a single & then travel by bus from Mill End to Henley, Reading or High Wycombe.
Today’s interesting features include lunch in Henley, the spectacular Hambledon Lock & Weir & the Grade 2 listed Park Place sold a few years back
for £140 million making it the most expensive house sale in the country.
