Nokia Siemens Networks A-1200-X Cost-effective Carrier Ethernet Access Switch The Nokia Siemens Networks A-1200-X 1U Carrier Ethernet Access Switch extends the A-series product line portfolio to provide costeffective connectivity for the Mobile Backhaul and Converged networks. A-1200-X plays an important role in the Nokia Siemens Networks Carrier Ethernet Transport (CET) solution managed by ASPEN. A-1200-X is developed specifically for delivering MEF-based E-line, E-LAN, E-Tree services in the most mission-critical customer environments. Main Features • 10 Gbps throughput (full-duplex) • Four 100/1000Base-X SFP interfaces • Six 10/100/1000 Base-T interfaces • Certified MEF 9,14: E-line (EPL and EVPL), E-LAN services • Extended operating temperature • Hard QoS • Sub-50 ms carrier-class protection with guaranteed BW • Hardware supported OAM toolkit based on Y.1731 and IEEE802.1ag loopbacks, link trace and perconnection performance and connectivity management SyncE (G.8261/2/4) and IEEE1588-2008 Transparent Clock (TC) * Nokia Siemens Networks A-1200-X complements the A-series product line by adding a cost-effective switch for providing Ethernet services from mobile operators’ hub sites. A-1200-X is a compact size 1RU Carrier Ethernet Access Switch with 10 Gbps full duplex non-blocking switching capacity that offers cost-effective 10/100/1000 Ethernet interfaces. The A-1200-X supports sub-50 ms service protection for E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree services. The A-1200-X supports four 100/1000Base-X SFP interfaces, six 10/100/1000Base-T interfaces for nonblocking connectivity to both UNI and NNI in the Carrier Ethernet network. Customer traffic is mapped by using multiple and flexible classifications from layer 1 (port-based) up to layer 3 (IP Address, Protocol Type and DSCP bits). With advanced synchronization capabilities, the A-1200-X plays a significant role in the end-to-end synchronization of Nokia Siemens Networks Mobile Backhaul solution. Allowing support for Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) as well as Time Division Duplexing (TDD)* technologies, the A-1200-X is uniquely positioned for packet-based mobile backhaul networks. 1 ASPEN Service Management IP Router Enterprise A-1200-X A-2200 A-1200-X A-2200 A-1200-X NodeB MBH 1G Access Ring A-1200 eNodeB 10G Access Ring RNC A-1200-X Residential A-1200-X DSLAM A-1200-X A-2200 Eth BSC Controller Site STM-1 Carrier Ethernet access domain MPLS aggregation domain Ethernet Demarcation/Access IP/MPLS Metro Access, Aggregation and core The A-1200-X may be deployed as a high-end CPE working with the Nokia Siemens Networks A-2200/A-1210 Edge switches and the Juniper MX Switch/Router family. The A-1200-X can also be used as an aggregation switch working together with the A-1200 multiservice switch to provide a very economical access solution. Using Nokia Siemens Networks’ product portfolio, Carriers and Service Providers can construct a powerful high-performance and efficient Metro infrastructure, designed to quickly deliver profitable communication services. The Nokia Siemens Networks’ management systems (ASPEN, NetViewer and NetAct Transport) enable E2E carrier-grade management which 2 A-1210 includes: provisioning, monitoring and performance analyses. Mobile Backhauling applications The A-1200-X can be used as a 2G/3G/4G aggregator at tail sites and as a tail site aggregator at hub sites. Part of the MBH solution, the A1200-X offers: • Ethernet interfaces for packet-based 2G/3G and LTE backhaul • Advanced synchronization including: Synchronous Ethernet, and IEEE 1588-2008Transparent Clock* • QOS assurances for delay, jitter and loss • Standard OAM mechanisms and protocols (Y.1731 and IEEE802.1ag) • Managed by the Nokia Siemens Networks’ ASPEN E2E management system IP/MPLS core Cost-Optimized CPE with high service availability for business customers The A-1200-X boasts a broad range of intelligent network services, featuring granular Quality of Service (QoS) and sub-50 ms protection that enable service providers to rapidly provision secure MEF compliant Ethernet access with Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Benefits include: • Fast troubleshooting with the help of strong OAM functions • Flexible customer traffic mapping schemes • Support for single-strand fiber, thus reducing fiber costs • Ease of management and service provisioning The A-1200-X includes advanced synchronization capabilities and plays a significant role in the end-to-end synchronization scheme of Nokia Siemens Networks Carrier Ethernet Transport solution. A-1200-X synchronization capabilities include: M Nokia Siemens Networks Carrier Ethernet LAs rd S Ha Synchronization The A-1200-X supports a standard mechanism for connectivity check (CCM 802.1ag) in configurable interval ranges between 10 ms and 10 s. Upon failure in either the access or in the MPLS domain, the end-to-end service switchover is triggered and protection takes place. Protection e vic Ser The A-1200-X fully supports SLAs defined by MEF service definitions including: • Committed Information Rate (CIR) • Peak Information Rate (PIR) • Service Priority • Protection levels The A-1200-X has been designed to deliver the SDH/SONET-like reliability that Carriers demand, but with the Performance, Scalability and CostEffectiveness of Carrier Ethernet. The state-of-the-art protection mechanism of the A-1200-X can achieve sub-50 ms fail-over time with guaranteed E2E BW. Using a multi-layered modular architecture, ASPEN software supports large, dynamic carrier-class networks and is ideal for minimizing hardware deployment time, service planning, provisioning and monitoring. M The A-1200-X delivers flexible, affordable Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, supporting pointto-point, point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-multipoint services. Customer traffic can be mapped to connections using any combination of rules from layer 1 to layer 3. Full protection and reliability ASPEN software allows carriers and service providers to efficiently manage all elements of the network to deliver the most reliable, scalable and costeffective Ethernet service offerings.
