The ambition of the seminar is to provide a platform for dialogue on issues of mutual
interest and concern between Norwegian companies, the Embassy and other relevant
actors. Norway’s Ambassador to Australia Unni Kløvstad will host the seminar, which
this year will also be attended by Director General Petter Ølberg from the Norwegian
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Kløvstad has extensive international experience with
postings at the United Nations in New York, as well as EU and
NATO in Brussels. Most recently, she held the position as Director,
Head of Section for Security Policy and North America at the
Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Hon Bill Marmion BE MBA MLA, Minister for Mines and
Petroleum; Housing, Western Australia Government:
Bill Marmion is currently the Western Australian Minister for Mines
and Petroleum; Housing. An engineer by profession, Bill was first
elected to parliament for the seat of Nedlands in 2008. He has served
in a range of roles including Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier
and Minister for Commerce; Science and Innovation; Housing;
Minister Assisting the Treasurer; and Minister for Environment;
Water.
As Minister for Mines he is committed to a stable regulatory
environment to ensure Western Australia remains a destination of
choice for the resource sector. He is driving legislation to bring
down the cost of doing business in Western Australia.

Mark Thirlwell, Chief Economist, Austrade:
The Global Economic Outlook
Appointed as Austrade’s Chief Economist in September 2013. Mark
Thirlwell holds degrees in economics from Cambridge and Oxford,
and has been tracking global economic trends since he joined the
Bank of England’s International Division in 1990. Before joining
Austrade, Mark was Vice President in Economic Research at JP
Morgan and the inaugural Director of the Lowy Institute’s
International Economy Program.
Stedman Ellis, Chief Operating Officer, Western Region APPEA:
Gas Globalisation
Stedman heads policy development and advocacy in WA, SA and NT
for APPEA – the peak body representing Australia’s oil and gas
exploration and production industry. He has worked in regulatory,
policy, stakeholder engagement and advocacy areas of the resources
sector for more than 25 years, in Australia, PNG and the US.
Stedman also serves on the boards of several WA research, education
and cultural organisations. He has an arts degree from the
University of WA.
Petter Nore, Chief Energy Analyst, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign
Affairs:
Norwegian perspectives on Asian and Australian Energy Trends
Petter Nore has broad experience from the energy sector, and was
Director for the Oil for Development program in the Norwegian
Agency for Development Cooperation. Nore has also held positions in
the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, the oil company
Saga Petroleum (Senior Vice President), the World Bank (Senior
Energy Economist) and in Norsk Hydro (Senior Vice President).

Norwegian Way – supporting Norwegian companies in
Australia
Moderated by Ambassador Unni Kløvstad
Director-General Petter Ølberg, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign
Affairs:
Norwegian Government priorities for economic diplomacy and
trade promotion
Director General Ølberg has extensive bilateral, multilateral, and
public policy experience from Oslo and abroad. He has served as
Ambassador of Norway to Jordan and Iran, and has been posted to
Mexico, Germany and the United Nations in Geneva. He is currently
heading a new department in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign
Affairs for economics, trade, development, foreign aid, energy and
climate.
Greg Ross, Vice President, Aker Solutions:
Doing Norwegian business in Australia
Mr Ross has over 25 years’ experience in operating and managing
companies in the design, development and manufacture of
equipment for the oil and gas industries. Significant experience in
multinational organizations operating in various European,
American and Asian countries as well as Australia. His experience
covers direct product design and manufacture, development of
strategies for the commercialization of products as well as direct
project execution for specialized packages for international clients.
Jeanette Roberts, INTSOK:
Norwegian Oil and Gas Partners in Australia
Jeanette Roberts has more than 30 years’ international experience in
the oil and gas industry working with operators, FEED specialists
and EPC contractors. Until recently she was Country Manager for
Kvaerner Australia. She is an active participant in Australia’s oil
and gas industry and has been involved in policy development at
State and Commonwealth level.
Brendan Coyne, State Director (WA), Austrade:
Investing in Australia
Brendan Coyne has worked for the Australian Trade Commission
(Austrade) for five years and is the Western Australia State
Director. Previous to this he was Trade Commissioner for
Austrade in Hong Kong where he focussed on assisting Australian
organisations enter and expand their market presence in the
infrastructure and services related sector. He has also worked
overseas with Austrade in Africa, South East Asia and the Pacific.
Before joining Austrade, Brendan worked with the Department of
Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Canberra and in the private
sector as a trade consultant. He holds Economics (Hons) and Law
degrees.
Egil Rensvik, Science & Technology Counsellor, South and South
East Asia, Innovation Norway:
Supporting Norwegian companies in Australia
Egil Rensvik holds the position as Science and Technology
Counsellor for Innovation Norway at the Royal Norwegian
Embassy in Singapore since August 2010. He is focusing on
Maritime and O&G Sector. He came from the position as Vice
President Marketing at Norwegian Marine Technology Research
Institute (MARINTEK). Egil has a MSc degree in Engineering
Cybernetics from the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH),
1977. He has been Member of the Maritime R&D Advisory Board
of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore from 2007- 2009.
Rensvik has been heading the MARUT, Norwegian Maritime
Development program for Ministry of Trade and Industry 2007 –
2010.
