Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting
TV Supplies
Series 2400
Sewing machine for the series is the Baby Lock Crescendo, the Baby Lock Ellisimo Gold 2and the Baby
Lock Evolution Serger. The sewing center is provided by Koala Cabinets, and the thread cabinets are
from Madeira Thread. For piecing, we use the ¼” quilting presser foot or the monogramming presser foot.
We use basic sewing supplies such as fabric, rotary cutters, cutting mats, and scissors, plus specific items
listed below. We wear a Klutz cut-resistant safety glove when rotary cutting, press with a Reliable iron,
and measure using Omnigrid and Fons & Porter rulers. Patterns and instructions for quilts featured are in
Love of Quilting or Easy Quilts magazine or as listed. We now have DVDs available for our TV shows
beginning with the 400 series.
SERIES 2400 LOVE OF QUILTING SHOW DESCRIPTIONS
Our newest series includes three inspired from vintage quilts, quilts created from group block exchanges,
details on how to organize a block exchange program, quilts that use “blocks within blocks,” tips on
machine quilting tools and techniques for unique quilting patterns, as well as lots of great techniques to
add to your piecing skills.

Simple construction of these Cubbyhole blocks makes a great study of lights and darks. Mary and

wife in his honor.
2403 – Flower Power Table Runner
Grandmother’s Flower Garden is a very traditional pattern that many of us dream about tackling someday.
Mary will be joined by Eleanor Burns in this episode to present her approach to hexagons and triangles to
make the fabulous Flower Power Table Runner. This project simplified with no set-in seams and just two
templates may just tempt you to move this idea to the top of you project list. The table runner was

2404 – Double Stars
Repetition creates a secondary design when two sizes of the same quilt block are combines to create the
Double Stars. An interesting concept of putting a star within a star and the use of a solid with a print
furthers the double effect. Mary Fons is joined by Jodi Davis is this episode to show you the basics of

is the topic Mary Fons and Liz Porter will discuss in this episode. They will guide you through all the
considerations and details required to set up a successful block exchange program. The simple Churn
Dash block was Liz’s selection for a block exchange with quilt friends. Once you have completed your
program, Liz will present a quick strip style setting you might consider for your quilt top. This episode

piecing. They will discuss this concept as it relates to a block exchange. The zigzag design is a popular
design currently. This setting is a more undated look that still works well with the traditional Ohio Star
