Marty Pable Series: November 15, 2014—Takashi Nagai:
Doctor and Survivor of the Atomic Bomb; We will share the
inspiring story of this Japanese man who converted from
Buddhism to Catholicism through his study of history. He
went on to marry and practice medicine, well known for both
his expertise and his compassion for the sick in Nagasaki.
When the atomic bomb destroyed the city, he led rescue
operations even though he was wounded. Later he became a
strong advocate for peace and banning of nuclear weapons.

a Mission with Jack Jezreel, founder of JustFaith Ministries.
Come learn to live out the social mission of the Church based

from admiration of him and his “style” to imitation? That’s
the key question this presentation seeks to explore!

Enkindling Hope: A Calling of the Church in an Age of Soft
Despair
Christianity is quintessentially a religion of hope because it
exultantly proclaims that in God we meet a love that no darkness or evil can ever defeat, a love so faithfully resilient that it
never dies. And yet, of the three theological virtues, hope is
the most neglected and overlooked. This presentation will
address the meaning and preciousness of hope, things that
threaten hope, what hope asks of us, and why we should never hope for anything less than what God’s love desires for us.

A Day for Women
Saturday, Nov 1—”Jesus, the Gift that Keeps on Giving”
Women, take some time to nourish yourself before the start
of the hectic holiday season. The Appleton Catholic Parishes
invite you to join us for a special day from 10 am to 4 pm at
St. Mary Parish Center, Appleton. Our speaker and guide for
the day will be Anne Trufant, mother of seven, wife, musician,
and composer. She founded and directed a home for unwed
mothers in Louisiana and worked in partnership with Mother
Teresa. She and her husband David own and direct camps for
boys and girls from challenging backgrounds in North Carolina
and they have developed a non-profit mission that helps
change lives in war torn areas of Africa. Anne interweaves
music and humor into everyday life experiences that bring
