Marley offers a flame-retardant HDPE piping system
called the MEGATUFF FR Pipe. Thanks to the polymer
compound coating that significantly reduces flame
spread, this system is safe for underground mining.
Extensive Test Programme
The MEGATUFF FR Pipe system has undergone extensive tests to
ensure its safety for use in a multitude of applications where fire
safety is a concern.
These tests include:
• Tests to prove the compound is non-permeable in underground
applications
• Tests to prove robustness in extreme conditions
• Weld-ability tests
• UV protection for the compound for six to eight months
• A fire tunnel test
• UL 214 tests
• UL 94 tests
• UL tests

Performance
The MEGATUFF FR Pipe’s performance stands out among other fire
retardant pipe covers on the market today. It has shown excellent
intumescence, facilitating heat reflection and preventing ignition.
Carbonaceous char forms on the product after being exposed to
flames which effectively protects the pipe and its contents from
ignition and contributes to the reflection of heat.
Available in sizes from 50mm to 355mm
