Tickets £10 from 01904 613000 / 01787 247959 or www.ridinglights.org/acts PCC. At this week’s PCC meeting we looked at church growth and things that create and encourage growth. On the subject of staffing, Malcolm reported that the diocese are sympathetic to us having a second stipendiary minister but that there is no housing available. Laurence Smith will join us as curate from 2015. The youth work is currently being covered by Chris Hood, who is running Amplify, and Graham Unsworth who is running The Fridge. We reviewed parish policies, and it was noted that we need to appoint a new Safeguarding Officer. Colin Firth gave a financial report, and we discussed next year’s contribution to the parish share. The PCC endorsed the decision taken by St Mary’s committee to submit a faculty request for the kitchen, and agreed to the Hyndman Centre Management Committee spending funds to put up fencing. PCC also endorsed revisions to the insurance policies for all 3 of our buildings. This Week Tuesday St Mary’s Finance Committee, 7:45pm, Hyndman Centre. Wednesday Holy Communion, 10am in the Lady Chapel. Friday Come Together Evening of Prayer, 7 – 11pm at Garland Street Baptist Church. Come when you can, stay as long as you can. Sunday 16 November, 3pm at St Peter’s. This is a service where we remember, by name, those known to us who have died. There is an opportunity to light a candle as a sign both of remembrance and of the light of Christ. The service is open to all, and will be followed by tea. St Mary’s St Mary’s Choir will be singing Evensong in Durham Cathedral on Monday 27th October and in York Minster on Tuesday 28th October. St Peter’s Festive Food. Christmas with a difference – an evening out for the ladies! Fri 21 Nov in the Hyndman Centre, 7:15 for 7:30pm. An evening of festive food ideas and the chance to make some gifts with Christmas in mind. There will be food demonstrations with recipes to taste and alternative ideas for the Christmas table. Come along and bring a friend. Tickets costing £5 will be on sale in November but see Carol Nurcombe if you need more details. Carol Service Rehearsals.
