Introduction & Background
MaintCon is a premier conference in the Gulf Region
organized and conducted by the GSMP and supported by
BSE for all maintenance and reliability professionals working
in the GCC. This four-day gathering goes way beyond
the simple exchange of ideas and information and brings
forth a platform where exhibits from service providers and
vendors will be displayed, partnerships and alliances will
be established, and policies developed and delivered to
countries around the world, adding value through diversity
and exposure to recent developments in our profession.
In this edition, we bring to you an array of top notch keynote
speakers to share their experiences and observations about
maintenance and reliability trends in our industries and our
region. Moreover, MaintCon 2014 will deliver a wide variety
of technical papers and a vibrant panel discussion that
provides you, as a maintenance and reliability professional,
an opportunity to expand your knowledge and share your
learnings with other professionals.

As in most all implementations, companies find themselves very vulnerable to slipping back into
the olds ways of working after relentless time and effort to implement a software, process, KPI’s
or even simple procedures.
The workshop will guide the audience through each step of an implementation and highlight key
aspects of each step.
Not only making a point to focus on key elements, but provide real life examples of how the
strategy should be communicated and how to sustain the efforts. Areas of focus during this
workshop will be:
• Commitment
This one-day workshop introduces the role of precision lubrication for improving machine reliability.
It covers lubrication fundamentals overview and describes the roadmap to lubrication excellence.
It is recommended for plant personnel involved in machinery lubrication, including lubrication
technicians, maintenance engineers, and reliability & rotating equipment engineers.
Benefits to the Audience
By the end of the workshop the audience will comprehend the following subjects:
• Role of lubrication in machine reliability
• Types of lubricants and how they are formulated
• Lubrication regimes
• Change Management
• How to select the right lubricants for different applications
• Design of implementation for success
• Oil Analysis for enhanced machine reliability
• Maturity Model
• How to achieve lubrication Excellence
• Measuring success
• Continuous Improvement
• Monitor & Audit
• Coach for Success

Maintenance Management Professional Certificate Program
(An Integrated Strategy for Maintenance Management )

Mr. Steve Turner
Principle of OMCS International,
Australia
PEMAC Plant Engineering and
Maintenance Association of Canada
The workshop will cover three main areas:
•
The PM Optimisation methodology, which is an RCM based approach to maintenance analysis
designed for existing plant, new plant that has vendor generated maintenance programs or
from OMCS International extensive library base built from over 2000 projects.
•
The living program and how to manage asset health, downtime data and failure recording and
corrective action systems.
•
Self Assessment programs to understand the current situation and make improvement plans
The workshop material is the result of almost two decades of consultation and successful
implementation programs with leading companies across the globe.
The workshop will also cover the integration of PM Optimization, with planning and scheduling,
data collection and incident management techniques. The integration of these processes is known
as Asset Performance Management.
10
As part of GSMP efforts to provide international accreditation and recognition of the regional M&R
Professionals, GSMP in association with PEMAC, Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association
of Canada, is offering a workshop on one of PEMAC Modules of their Certification Program.
The Plant Engineering & Maintenance Association of Canada (PEMAC) provides a Maintenance
Management Professional Certificate (MMP) to those aspiring to, or already in, maintenance
management or supervisory positions. Certified MMPs are qualified to provide cost effective
management of a business’s physical assets. Module 1 is being offered as a workshop at the
MAINTCON conference over a two day period. PEMAC certification program is a well-defined and
structured program consisting of a series of 8 Modules. To achieve certification, you must pass all
of these 8 modules leading to a Certificate and a recognized professional designation, MMP.
Module 1 - An Integrated Strategy for Maintenance Management (15 hours),is being offered as a
workshop at the MAINTCON conference over a two day period.
This is a workshop designed with high practical content so delegates don’t just learn the theory;
they learn the application in practice.
Based on the course text, Uptime, Module 1 develops the framework for thinking about a strategic
approach to maintenance management that is integrated with the business. Drawing on the
elements presented in the “Maintenance Excellence Pyramid” of Uptime.Participants in Module
1 will learn how strategy, people, basic care, materials management, performance management,
work management, support systems, and tools such as RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance)
and RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) can work together to build a culture of excellence.
