Friends of Children’s Justice Center EH PATCH – People Attentive to Children We wanted to do something special to kickoff the HIUW campaign so we came up with the HIUW Rice Bucket Challenge The way it works is that someone nominates you to participate in the challenge. You then have a working day to either donate $120 to the Aloha United Way, that’s $5 a paycheck, or dump a bucket of rice on your head. In West Hawaii, everyone was going to be together for E Imi Pono Day We asked for a couple of volunteers at the end of the day’s activities Dr. Marty Fletcher, Director UH Center, West Hawaii and David Tsugawa, English faculty bravely volunteered We talked them into taking the challenge and dumping the bucket of rice on their head. It was great fun! David Tsugawa, English Faculty took the challenge… This was so much fun… Marty Fletcher, Director of the UH Center, West Hawaii took the challenge… I cannot believe I am doing this … Where’s the Rice Bucket Now? Marty took his rice bucket to Hilo the following Monday for the Admin meeting where he challenged Vice Chancellor Jason Cifra Jason opted to do the ice bucket challenge and passed the rice bucket on to Chancellor Yamane We’re still waiting to hear what she did with the rice bucket David Tsugawa passed his rice bucket on to West Hawaii Student Services Most recently, a rice bucket was seen in the hands of Kate Sims and the UH Center Library & Learning Center We also heard Vice Chancellor Joni Onishi has a rice bucket in her office What about you? If you’d like a rice bucket challenge kit, email [email protected]. Or save the rice and fill out the HIUW donation form delivered to your campus mail box. Or access the 2014 State HIUW form here.
