Neil Nathan placed first in the State MTNA strings competition and will advance to Regionals in Oklahoma.
He was also one of the Red River Radio competition winners last weekend. Congratulations!

Once again the Mighty Magnet Mustang Quiz Bowlers have prevailed! They won first place at the
Episcopal School of Acadiana Tournament in Lafayette Saturday, Oct 18. Our players were Vincent
Huang, Elijah Ash, Taha Hayat, and Deniz Gungor. The B team advanced to the quarter-finals before
being defeated. They were Liam Ash, Mohammed Salman, and Savannah Hammett.
The Talented Arts Vocal Band will be performing at the NBA Preseason Game October 23rd, during the
pre-game ceremony.
Explore the Arts! Participate in the PTA Reflections contest. Theme: “This world would be a better place
if….” ART CATERGORIES: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition,
Photography, and Visual Arts. Deadline for entries: Thursday, October 30, 2014. Pick up your student
entry form in the office.
Boys soccer: Pre-conditioning Oct. 20, 21, and 23 at LSUS by the tennis courts. Boys soccer try-outs:
Monday, Oct. 27-Wed., Oct. 29. (Time and location TBA) Newcomers to boys soccer, please pick up
information about the program in Mrs. Addington’s room C-12.
Girls soccer tryouts: October 27-29 (Monday-Wed) 5-6:30 p.m. soccer/track field at school
Yearbooks will be sold both lunch shifts for $55 the first week of November (3rd-7th). Also, you may go to
yearbookavenue.com and purchase a book for $56.
Dual Enrollment students: The LSUS deadline to change from credit to audit or to drop with a “W” for fall
courses is Friday, October 31. If you plan to drop your course, please see Mrs. Snyder by October 29.

An ACT practice test will be given at Magnet on Wednesday, November 19. The cost of the test is $12. If
you are interested in taking the ACT practice test, submit your $12 fee to Ms. Moore in the counselor’s
office. The deadline to register is Friday, October 24. This is for juniors only!
