These waters restore life to the river’s inhabitants as well as the fruit bearing trees along its banks. It is believed that the water signifies blessings, whereas the lack of signifies trouble, hardship. Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 3:9c-11, 16-17 Paul compares us to a building whose foundation has been laid by Jesus. As the people of God, we can only be solid if we are grounded in Christ. Gospel: John 2:13-22 Near the time of Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem and saw the temple had become a marketplace. He became angry and proceeded to drive out the vendors and livestock. Jesus spoke of destroying the temple and rebuilding it in three days. The Jews did not know Jesus was speaking of his body, but when his resurrection from the dead came to pass, his disciples remembered what Jesus had said and came to believe the Scripture and the word Jesus had spoken. The Church assures us that these souls can be truly helped by our prayers, Masses, and acts of charity. During this solemn month, the Church invites us to remember those who have preceded us to eternity. Living in this busy world, we may easily forget our dead and especially those from whom we have received so many gifts. "It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead..." (2Machabees 12:46). When was the last time you remembered and prayed for your dear mother, your devoted father, your sister or brother, or some beloved relative or friend? Let us show our love and gratitude for our dead by praying for them during this month. Fr. Pham BULLETIN NEWS FROM OUR LADY STAR OF THE SEA REGIONAL SCHOOL Many thanks to our eighth graders who, with the guidance of Sister Christine, planned and implemented a wonderful Halloween Carnival providing a real-world experience for them and a memorable experience for their fellow students. The Carnival, from the Moon Bounce to face painting to games, food, and prizes, is a tradition the eighth grade, as well as the entire student body, looks forward to from the beginning of the school year. Then, as a reminder to our students that they are members of the communion of saints and to recognize the many Saints they learn about daily who dedicated their lives to God through sacrifice, service, and the spreading of His word, a prayer service for All Saints Day was facilitated by the seventh grade. OLSS School is seeking donations of the following gently used items: Legos, Barbie doll clothes, play kitchen or play workbench. All donations are gratefully accepted and can be dropped off at school from 8 am to 3 pm. Please call the school 609-345-0648 if other arrangements need to be made. Thank you for your continued support. STEWARDSHIP Dedication of the Lateran Basilica Stewards are Co-Workers "For we are God's co-workers... " – COR: 3:9a We are called to help God build His kingdom on earth. We are His eyes, ears, hands and voice on Earth. By giving of our "first fruits" of our time, talent and treasure we help fulfill God's call. Are you doing all you can to help? Do you spend time in prayer every day? Do you participate in one of the many parish ministries? Do you give generously in the offertory collection each week? CAP- CHILD ASSAULT PREVENTION Dear Father Joe, Members of the Committee, and Parishioners, I have to admit that on Friday night, October 24, I was left speechless. My retirement Mass and reception was just perfect in every way. All I can say is "THANK YOU" for your love, support, and friendship for over 46 years. O.L.S.S. is a special place, a place I love and consider my home, and that is because of YOU. Please know you are in my daily prayers, and I will always be available if you need me. When you go by the convent, please notice the beautiful Blessed Mother statue, a gift from the parish. I love it! Remember, each one of you have a special place in my heart. Thank you! All my love and prayers, Sister Shamus Celtic Twilight Christmas In order to sustain and strengthen the mission of our Catholic School, the Diocese of Camden will host “Celtic Twilight Christmas" at the TD Bank Arts Center, Sewell, NJ on Saturday, December 6, 2014.
