Welcome to Worship
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we welcome everyone including those who join us
through the DVDs. Visitors are especially welcome, and can find out more about the
congregation from any of the stewards in the vestibule.
This morning we continue the theme In God’s hands: wait for God’s time.
This is carried through in the Ark, which together with JCBs, will resume.
During the service an Act of Remembrance will be held.
In the evening at 6.00 pm (note time) the Scouts and Guides will hold a
Parade Service.
At the close of both services a retiring offering will be taken for the Earl Haig
Fund.
A Crèche meets every Sunday - if necessary ask for directions in the Hub.
Large print copies of the morning praise items are available in the vestibule

We regret to announce the death of Mr Stanley Crowther of Sandown Manor.
A Service of Thanksgiving was held in Roselawn Crematorium on Friday, 7
November. The service was conducted by Rev Ken McBride of Orangefield
Presbyterian. We uphold Stanley’s wife Dorothy, his daughters Diane and Lyn,
and the family before our God of grace and mercy.
We also regret to announce the death of Mrs Sandra Rice of Mount Michael
Park. A Service of Thanksgiving will be held at 2.00 pm in the church on
Monday, 10 November, followed by refreshments in the McAdam Hall before
proceeding to Roselawn Crematorium at 4.30 pm. We commend her husband
Evan, daughter Cathy, and the family circle into the hands of our God.
Tuesday Break meets on Tuesday, 11th November, at 2.30 pm. Mr Dan Clarke
(Senior Ranger) will give a talk on the “Lagan Valley Regional Park”. A warm
welcome to all.
The Midweek Meeting for Bible Study and Prayer is on Wednesday at 7.30
pm in the Chambers Room.
Coffee and Chat on Fridays. The Friday Café continues from 10.30 am to 12
noon. If anyone could help out, speak to Eleanor Timothy, Tel: 9096 4386, or
sign up in the Coffee Bar.
Knockbreda Men’s Breakfast is on Saturday, 15th November, when Aaron
Patterson will be giving a talk and presentation on his trip and work in
Palestine. All men welcome.
Next Sunday, (16 November) morning worship will be led by Julie Greenlee,
trainee Auxiliary Minister. At 7.00 pm we continue with the series ‘Building
Community in Christ’.
A Pastoral Care Team meeting will be held in the Chambers Room after
morning worship on Sunday, 23rd November. Bring your cup of tea or coffee
with you.
PW wish to thank all who supported their lunch last Sunday. The amount
raised was £553
Operation Christmas Child. A big ‘thank you’ to all those who have brought
shoeboxes for the Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox Appeal. In total you have given
143 boxes which have been sent to the distribution point at Sydenham where
they will be packed into lorries ready for onward shipment to Bosnia &
Herzegovina in Eastern Europe. In 2013 10 million shoeboxes were distributed
to 130 countries. This included 1 million from the UK and N. Ireland.
Calling all Organisations. Leaders are reminded that, unless the outside door
into the Halls is manned, it should be kept locked, especially in the evenings.
(Recently there have been some casual ‘visitors’).
Bible Reading Notes for 2015. Our annual order will be placed with
Scripture Union later this month. Please speak to Kevin Maguire today if you
wish to enquire further, order for the first time, or to re-order for next year’s
daily readings. A range of notes, in booklet form, is available for daily
scriptural inspiration, instruction and encouragement. The notes give a short
explanation of a selected scripture passage for further reflection. The annual
payment is £14.50 - £16.50 if paid before 31st January 2015. Details of all Bible

Mission Ireland 2015 Calendars are now available from Hilary Cromie (Tel:
9064 0279). The cost has been held at the very competitive rate of £3.50.
Car Parking Policy. Car parking is limited in the car park which can lead to
congestion and risk of an accident at busy times. Congregational Committee
has decided to limit the use of the car park, when activities are in progress, to
“Blue Badge” holders, users who find it difficult to walk a distance and leaders
who need to transport equipment ONLY. Those who do use the car park
should drive cautiously and beware of small children who can be very difficult
to see. All others should park on the roads surrounding the church taking
great care not to park near exits from neighbouring houses. This will apply on
a Sunday morning as well as during the week.
Connecting with God. You are invited to Belfast Bible College to join a
morning retreat exploring some practical spiritual disciplines for everyday life.
The retreat will be held on Saturday 15 November from 9.30 am - 1.00 pm in
the Worship Centre of the College. Cost is £5; bring your own lunch 1-2pm

Ebola Outbreak (from the current PCI Mission Overseas Prayerline 5 Nov
2014) Over the past few months, the world has been watching the tragic
unfolding of the current Ebola crisis in West Africa. Last week the Disasters
Emergency Committee launched an appeal which PCI is encouraging us to
support. There is a display on the Mission Board in The Hub about Ebola with
information from Tearfund, PCI and Wycliffe Bible Translators.
Prayer Points
•“Lord God we remember with thanksgiving the sacrifice, courage and commitment
of servicemen and women who have suffered and died in wars past and present.
Please give comfort and peace to those who live with injuries, their carers and loved
ones who have been bereaved”.
•Armed Forces. Give thanks for those who served to protect our country and
freedoms over the last century, especially those who laid down their lives. Pray for
those who presently serve in our armed forces, especially those serving in overseas
theatres.
•Scouts and Guides. Give thanks for the leaders in each of the sections, and for their
commitment to both prepare and deliver interesting programmes week by week.
Pray for the children and young people that they might grow spiritually, as in other
ways.
•Ebola Crisis. Pray for those suffering from Ebola and those in fear of contracting it;
pray for progress in the control and cure of Ebola and for a vaccine to be developed;
pray for the many volunteers from the UK seeking to bring help.
If you would like prayer for yourself or anyone else today please speak to the minister
or one of the elders.
