Sean, Steve Bethell and Chris Weir, one of our architects, recently met with Haringey Council Planning staff to discuss the porch proposal. While sympathetic to what we are trying to achieve, they raised some issues that we will need to consider. When we receive the planners’ written response we can give more detailed feedback as we look at how to move forward. Enrolment for children in the First Holy Communion Programme for May 2015 For children, in Year 3, who live in the Parish or regularly attend St. Peter-in-chains Church. Enrolment forms and information are now available for collection from the Sacristy, after Mass on Sunday, or from the Parish Office, during Office hours, between 9am – 3pm (Mon – Fri). The completed form must be returned, with the fee and Baptismal Certificate to the Parish Office by Monday, 17th November. No forms will be accepted after this date. Please note that parents can only collect forms for their children. The 2015 Confirmation Programme - is open to young people who live in this Parish or worship regularly here and are in Year 9. Application forms are now available from the sacristy after Mass or the Parish Office, during office hours and will only be given to the candidate. All Forms must be returned to the Parish Office by Monday, 17th November. Priest General Surgery – Fr Sean will be available for a general surgery on Tuesday, 4th November from 5.00pm-7.00pm. RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) – Next meeting - Wednesday, 5th November at 7.30pm in the Presbytery. Month of the Holy Souls - In November we remember relatives and friends who have died. Holy Souls lists (pink) are available on the Newsletter stand along with envelopes for offerings. There will be a Mass to commemorate parishioners who have died in the past year on Friday, 7th November at 7.30pm. If you have lost a family member this year and would like them remembered, please write a note giving their name and, if you have one, include a photo of the deceased, with an address so we can return it. Hand this in to the parish office by Wednesday, 5th November. All names will be read out and a candle lit in memory of the deceased. NB No Morning Mass/Prayers/Holy Hour on that day. Save the Date! On Tuesday, 11th November at 7.30pm we invite parishioners who have a learning disability, or a learning disabled family member or friend, - and everyone who might like to be involved - to meet at St Peter's School hall, Elm Grove N8 9AJ. Maybe you know a neighbour - whether they come to church or not - please invite them. We would like our parish to offer more support and have been looking into growing a L'Arche community here. There will be a speaker from L'Arche, and we plan to make it a lovely, special evening with music. Please bring finger food/drink to share. Everyone welcome! Parish Repository – The parish repository stall will be available today after both morning Masses. Sick & Retired Priests’ Fund – The annual collection for the Sick & Retired Priests’ Fund takes place next weekend 8th/9th November. There are now 80 sick and retired priests in the diocese and many of them need support as they get older. Please give as much as you can afford as the Fund relies on donations…and, if you pay tax, don’t forget that you can add 25p to every £1 that you give (at no extra cost to you) by completing the Gift Aid declaration on the back of the donation envelope. (You can also make a donation online at www.rcdow.org.uk/donations) Envelope attached to this newsletter, please return with your donation next weekend. St. Peter-in-Chains RC Infant School, Elm Grove, N8 9AJ - Reception 2015. If your child was born between 01/09/10 and 31/08/11 you will need to apply for a reception place for September 2015. Supplementary Information Forms are now available from the school office. Please come along and visit the school - mini tours of the school are available on most Friday afternoons at 2pm. Please contact the school on 020 8340 6789. Joint Pilgrimage to Italy with Holy Trinity Church - We have organised a week-long pilgrimage to Ravenna, Padua and Bologna from 24th - 30th October 2015. The cost (based on a shared room) will be £919 per person, including flights from Stansted, half board accommodation, entrance fees and coach travel in Italy. Further details are available from Jennifer in the office, to whom initial bookings should be returned. Celebrating 25 years of the Westminster Diocesan Annual Pilgrimage to Lourdes! A Special Concert and Jubilee Reception will be held at Our Lady of Victories, Kensington W8 on Friday, 21st November 2014, 7.30pm. A magnificent musical programme including choral works by MacMillan and Schubert will be performed by the UCLU Music Society. Tickets are £10 and £5. All funds raised will be used in support of the pilgrimage fund to enable the sick to travel to Lourdes. Box Office is open now: Gerald Daly 020 7798 9173. Home Visits – If you are sick or housebound and would like to receive Communion please let the parish priest know so that he can arrange for a Eucharistic Minister to visit you at home.
