2014 NEW YORK CITY MARATHON
The New York City Marathon takes place on 2 November 2014. This will be our 23nd tour
and we are proud of being the first company to be appointed representatives for the NYCM in
South Africa, taking the first group of SA runners to the NYCM since SA’s re-admittance to
international sport in 1991.
A limited number of guaranteed race entry packages are available from Sport Endeavours
International and attached hereto is a summary of our standard tour packages which include
options at a Superior, DeLux or Tourist Class Hotel and the choice between flying with SAA or
any other airline. Our contracts are signed directly with New York Hotels which allows us to
offer most competitive prices.
These standard packages can easily be combined with a business trip or holiday. The option
of Personal and tailor-made tour packages are also available.
GUARANTEE OF ENTRY
To be secured of one of the guaranteed New York City Marathon entries we require the
following:
• a completed booking / race entry reservation form (part of documents attached)
• a signed and dated waiver form (part of documents attached)
• a deposit of R10,800.00 and a copy of valid passport
The closing date for entries is 31 August 2014 or earlier if all entry packages are allocated
before this date. NYCRR will accept late entries after 31 August 2014 until 15 September
2014 at an additional cost of R1,000.00 [if not sold out].

COST OF RACE ENTRY TRAVEL PACKAGES
Please take careful note of what is included and excluded in the packages. All packages are
kept as basic as possible to keep costs down and to enable you to decide on optional extras.
Cost of airline tickets are subject to a minimum number of passengers travelling together.
USA VISAS
SA passport holders require a visa to enter the USA. All other nationalities to please check.

HOTELS
Location of hotels in New York City is important and during
the NYCM time, hotel accommodation options are limited.
Please note: We have a limited number of rooms
available at each hotel.
Superior Class Hotels
The Le Parker Meridien in 57th Street, between 6th and 7th
avenues is located 2 blocks from Central Park, the popular
side of the park, and surrounded by some of the best shops
and restaurants New York can offer. It is very close to Times
Square and Broadway, the Theatre district. This hotel only
offers superior double rooms with one King size bed,
no rooms with twin beds. Rates available on request.
DeLux Class Hotel (Best Value for Money)
Our DeLux class hotel, is the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers, 7th avenue, at Times
Square – in the middle of where you want to be.
Tourist Class Hotel
This is the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers, situated between
Madison and 5th Avenue. A Charming Italian style Boutique
Hotel.
AIRLINES: SAA AND OTHER
SAA offer flights on a daily basis between SA and NY.
We do offer options on other airlines which are less
expensive. When planning your flights, please take note
that a Sunday return flight is unlikely to be an option due
to the race that only starts at 11:00 on Sunday.

All prices are per person and are subject to availability and current at the time of printing
and based on a predicted rate of exchange, airline and government fees. Prices will be re
calculated at the time of final and full payment.

Cancellation fees are applicable.

An entry for the NYCM is only available as part of a tour package. A package need not be
one of the above-mentioned packages, but can also be a personalised itinerary or arranged
to co-inside with a business trip or holiday.

Should you prefer a personalised itinerary, we would however, like to suggest that you
arrive in New York not later than Friday, 31 October 2014 (early morning). This will
enable you to register with the group on Friday morning.

APPLICATION / WAIVER
It is important that you read, sign, date and return this document to your ITP. This is part of the application process to
be completed, which includes the WAIVER set forth below.
“By signing this letter, you authorize the ITP, Sport Endeavours International —from whom you purchased your
2014 TCS New York City Marathon package—to act on your behalf to complete and sign your 2014 TCS New York
City Marathon application and the following WAIVER.”
Please note that participating in a marathon is an extremely strenuous activity. Applicants should
seriously consider consulting their physicians before committing to participate in this event.
2014 TCS New York City Marathon® Waiver
WAIVER OF LIABILITY: I know that participation in the TCS New York City Marathon (the "Marathon") and its
related events and activities (each, an “Event,” and collectively, the “Events”) are potentially hazardous activities. I
agree not to enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of
an event official relative to my ability to safely complete the event. I am voluntarily entering and assume all risks
associated with participating in the event, including, but not limited to, falls, contact with other participants, spectators
or others, vehicular or other traffic, the effect of the weather, including heat and/or humidity, wind, cold temperature,
wet or icy surfaces, falling tree branches or other overhead objects, traffic and other conditions of the course, all such
risks being known and appreciated by me. I grant to the Medical Director of the Events and his designee access to
my medical records and physicians, as well as other information, relating to medical care that may be administered to
me as a result of my participation in the Events. Having read this Waiver and knowing these facts, and in
consideration of your acceptance of this application, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and
release New York Road Runners, Inc., Road Runners Club of America, USA Track & Field, USATF-Metropolitan, the
City of New York and its agencies and departments, and all sponsors of the Events, and the representatives and
successors of the foregoing, from present and future claims and liabilities of any kind, known or unknown, arising out
of my participation in the Events, even though such claim or liability may arise out of negligence or fault on the part of
any of the foregoing persons or entities.
Permission to Use Record of Participation
I grant permission to the foregoing persons and entities to use or authorize others to use any photographs, motion
pictures, recordings, or any other record of my participation in the Events, including my name, for any legitimate
purpose without remuneration.
Rules and Regulations
The TCS New York City Marathon is organized and conducted under USA Track & Field rules and regulations.
Entrants must also comply with New York Road Runners (NYRR) rules and all applicable rules and regulations of the
City of New York, its agencies and departments, including the Department of Parks & Recreation.
No skates, strollers, or animals are permitted in the Marathon. The use of headphones is strongly discouraged.
NYRR reserves the right to reject any entry and to disqualify and bar any individual from the Marathon. This
rejection/disqualification may be based on, but is not limited to: violation of the aforementioned rules; unsportsmanlike
conduct; non-payment of race fees; competing with an unofficial number; competing with an official number or d-tag
assigned to another person; transferring or attempting to transfer an official number or d-tag to, or to obtain such
number or d-tag from, another person; being paced during the race by a person not entered in the Marathon;
accepting assistance from non-race participants; crossing the finish line without having completed the entire course;
and providing false information on the race entry form. Individuals disqualified from the Marathon will be removed
from the race results and may be barred from future Marathons and other NYRR events. NYRR reserves the right to
change the details of the race.
