Dickerson, DDS, FAACD, LVIM Stacy McCauley, RDH, MS 8am – 11:30am/12:30pm – 3pm 9am – 12 Noon/1pm – 4pm 9am – 12 Noon/1pm – 4pm “Managing Dentinal Hypersensitivity” “Things They Didn’t Tell You in Dental School: Things You Need to Know to Provide the Best Care for Your Patients” “Does Hygiene Have Your Back? How to Increase Calibration between Doctor and Hygienist for Stellar Co-Diagnosis and Enrollment” This lecture will explore the amazing world of dentistry that most dentists are unfamiliar with: A world where you can have a major impact on patients’ overall health and well-being. You will discover simple mistakes that most dentists make daily that can cause cranio-mandibular disorders in your patients, leading to a lifetime of pain. You will leave this lecture realizing that, as a general dentist, you are in charge of the treatment and you are the quarterback of the dental team. You will leave this lecture being more excited about the profession you have chosen since the day you graduated from dental school. High producing/high standard of care practices don’t leave anything up to “guesswork.” Successful practices have mastered dentist/hygienist calibration by creating and adhering to standard of care documents that map out clinical expectations and parameters. 8am – 11:30am/12:30pm – 3pm “New Aspects of Dentistry” This fast-moving course includes the areas of dentistry with the most activity and change in any given year. It is easily understood and has numerous summaries that help attendees to interpret the ongoing advancements in the profession. The course encourages audience participation and questions and answers and is presented in an enjoyable and humorous manner. The hottest aspects in dentistry will be included in the program depending on the interests of the attendees, the popularity of topics at the time of your program, and the time available. A few of the possible topics include lasers, CAD/CAM, esthetic dentistry, implant dentistry, endodontics, periodontics, preventive dentistry, oral surgery, operative dentistry, and prosthodontics. This class is suitable for Dentists. Dentinal hypersensitivity is an episodic condition that is increasing in prevalence. Surprisingly, a majority of patients do not actively seek treatment to desensitize their teeth, instead adopting coping behaviors, such as avoidance of cold foods and drinking through straws. The objective of this course is to provide the dental health professional with a continuous care strategy for identifying and meeting the treatment needs of patients suffering from hypersensitive dentin. “Radiographic Techniques from Analog to Digital” This course will provide practical information on intraoral radiography techniques. The basic principles will be discussed, including hands-on application of these principles to digital radiography. This class is suitable for Staff. 6 credits 6 credits Gordon J. From aesthetic dentistry to scientifically-based occlusal approaches, Bill has led the way developing many aesthetic and occlusal techniques, products and procedures that enhance comprehensive restorative procedures. Doctors with highly trained, highly calibrated, highly empowered and highly respected hygienists have surpassed the financial storm with flying colors, while less-calibrated practices struggle to stay afloat. Utilizing her unique experience as a seasoned educator, clinician and practice coach, Stacy McCauley’s presentations offer a high-energy, workshop environment where attendees learn the skills necessary to implement calibration strategies in their practices. Through case studies and small group interaction, attendees will learn how to take their Hygiene department from “Woeful” to “Wow!” “The Perfect Handoff: Communication Strategies for Stellar Co-Diagnosis and Enrollment” Would you like more case acceptance and increased patient satisfaction, less stress and a greater collaborative team spirit? Thriving practices have mastered the art of the handoff. Achieving a high level of co-diagnosis starts with seamless communication between everyone in the office. We will cover the principles of high impact communication, including: how patients listen and learn, factors that influence patient decision making, verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, and proxemics. Through real-time interactivity, attendees will start to master the skills of high impact communication to take their practice’s perio co-diagnosis skill and effectiveness through the roof. For continued learning back in the practice, attendees are welcome to videotape their simulated handoff practice sessions. This class is suitable for Staff. 6 credits With the heart of a coach and teacher, Stacy McCauley maintains her "cutting edge" on all things dental.
