Prostate cancer is the most common solid organ
malignancy affecting the male population in the
US with 223,000 new cases expected in 2014. Every
urologist diagnoses and treats prostate cancer. In the
past decade, many advances occurred in the field of
prostate cancer. This program will highlight many of
these changes ensuring that the urologic community
keeps up to date with the care of men with prostate
cancer.

At the conclusion of this meeting, the attendee should be able
to:
1. Differentiate the role of MRI in diagnosing prostate cancer in men with previously negative biopsies and persistently
high suspicion of disease presence.
2. Assess the new genetic tests that help risk stratify prostate cancer.
3. Identify the appropriate candidates for active surveillance and review the current follow up protocol.
4. Compare the current data on IMRT and proton therapy for prostate cancer.
5. Extrapolate the differences in surgical and radiation
approaches to high-risk prostate cancer patients.
6. Relate the results of CHAARTED trial on the role of early chemotherapy in castrate-sensitive prostate cancer.
7. Analyze the concept of focal therapy for prostate cancer and reflect on the concerns and questions which need to be debated and addressed.
8. Consider the incorporation of real-time imaging and guided-biopsies into the diagnostic and treatment armamentarium for prostate cancer.
