The Event
The Reindeer Run & Romp 5K is held on the same night as the City of Newark’s Department of Parks & Recreation
Winterfest. Event participants and their families will enjoy Winterfest activities both pre- and post-event and are
encouraged to visit the merchants in and around Newark’s Main Street.
The 5K Reindeer Run & Romp is a full loop beginning at Academy Street and Delaware Avenue, proceeding south on
Academy Street, left onto Courtney, left onto Chapel, immediate right onto Wyoming, right through the parking lot of the
UD Early Learning Center, right onto the James F. Hall Trail and returning to Academy. The Romp will follow the same
course as the run. Awards and a post-race party will be held in front of Aetna Fire Station. Holiday entertainment and
luminaries will be featured along the course.

Entry Fee
Race Packets will be available for early pickup on Wednesday at the Wilmington Running
Company in Greenville and on Thursday at the SODE Newark Office.
$25 pre-registered participants; $30 day-of
All participants will receive a long-sleeve event T-shirt, discount coupons towards
Main Street merchants and jingle bells. Antlers will be available for purchase.

Special Olympics Delaware is an organization that changes lives by promoting
understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual
disabilities. Through year-round sports training, athletic competition and related
programs conducted for more than 3,700 children and adults with intellectual
disabilities, the organization creates a model community that celebrates people’s
diverse gifts. Special Olympics Delaware builds sports skills, confidence, strength,
motivation and self-esteem - not just for athletes, but for everyone involved.
