NOVEMBER 15 & 16, 2014 THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIMES A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR MASS INTENTIONS Dear Friends in Christ, This weekend we welcome one of our two “Thursday Seminarians”, Mr. Richard Mowery, who will speak on behalf of the annual seminary appeal. Rick is a third year theology student from the Diocese of Harrisburg. He will be ordained a deacon this spring, and next year will be ordained to the priesthood. Each week, Rick and fellow seminarian Edisson Urrego come to our parish and visit classrooms in the school. In the afternoon they conduct a bible study class for adults and visit homebound parishioners. St. Charles Seminary has been around for over a hundred and fifty years. The number of students peaked during my own time at St. Charles. Although there are fewer students now, there is truly a quality program in place for training our future priests of the twenty-first century. I know that you will be happy to hear from Rick, and I ask you to support the seminary with your prayers and also with your financial donations. I want to call your attention once again to the announcement regarding the special bereavement session to be held on Monday, November 24th at 6 pm entitled, “Coping with Grief through the Holidays.” While we are looking for people to call the parish office and register for the session, you can still come if you decided to go at the last minute without registering. We are just looking to see what size room we need for the meeting and how many refreshments to get. We invite you to come down to Holy Family Hall this weekend for the Fair Trade Sale. Catholic Relief Services organizes these sales to benefit people in foreign lands who otherwise might be exploited by getting too little money for their goods. Part of the sale will be regular and decaf coffee and chocolate. Stop down after Mass and take a look at what Catholic Relief Services has to offer. Finally, I want to thank those of you who have contributed to our annual appeal which we call the “Block Collection.” We are getting closer to our much needed goal to keep our buildings and grounds in shape. Recently, we have sent out reminder letters. At the same time, we don’t want to pressure you. Send in your contribution when and if you can. Asking God’s continued blessings on you all, I leave you In the peace of Christ, - PAGE 2 - SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2014 5:00 pm Vigil — Joanna Miller SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2014 7:30 am — Adam Mattes 9:00 am — Robert Allen Binder 10:30 am — William J. Loretta Laino is a certified fitness trainer with the International Sports Science Association and has offered the following fitness tips for seniors: 1. Always remain hydrated by drinking water before, during and after exercise. 2. Always warm up and cool down before and after exercise. (5 min walk). 3. “No pain, no gain” is a myth and should be avoided. Listen to your body and ease up if mild discomfort during exercise turns to pain.
