Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project Academic Innovation Fund Window 3 – Establishment of Technology Transfer Offices For creating robust, sustainable industry-university interaction system, a linking agent or between the two is required. The Academic Innovation Fund (AIF) Window 3 will finance establishment and operation of small but effective Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) that fulfill this role on a pilot basis. Detailed procedure of drafting, submission, evaluation, and selection criteria are described in Innovation Fund Operations Manual (IFOM) on HEQEP website Proposals from interested universities will be evaluated by panel of experts. Based on marks given by panel, final selection will be made by University Grants Commission Board of AIF (UGCBAIF) 2014 Perform techno- commercial evaluation of university’s intellectual assets Help to monetize intellectual assets by marketing, seeking new customers, participating in technology transfer conferences, etc Organize IP literacy training for academics HOW TO APPLY for TTO fund 3 Amount of TTO fund AIF grants up to Taka 20.0 million will be awarded for each finally selected subproject on a competitive basis Only one proposal per interested university. TYPES OF w TYPE 2: Industrial research fellowships TYPE 1: University-Industry Collaborative Research Funds (maximum Taka 80.0 million for a subproject) Formation of collaborative research subproject partnering the university and industry Cost for obtaining patent on the developed technology Training of researchers on IP literacy Industrial Research Fellowships will support : Modernization of science lab with state-of-the art instruments for conducting experimentation and testing of technologies developed under the subproject BDT 55,000/month Full-time PhD students BDT 25,000/month Part-time PhD students BDT 150,000/month Post-doc academics who will be engaged to do the bench work under the research subproject Commercialization of the product that comes out of the research subproject Duration of subproject: 3 year with one year extension without exceeding the period of HEQEP which closes on december 31, 2018. Based on the marks given by the IRP, the UGC Board for AIF (UGCBAIF) shall make the final selection of proposals and announce the awards. ELIGIBLE ACADEMIC ENTITIES: Departments Institutes Centers. ELIGIBLE UNIVERSITIES: ELIGIBLE INDUSTRY: Minimum annual intake of 100 students in academic programs; Universities which offer PhD programs. Private and public companies which have at least 50 permanent employees, and registered under the Companies Act. Foreign companies are allowed.
