Special in-person registration hours - Troy High School lobby - Monday, 9/8/14 and
Tuesday, 9/9/14 from 6-7 PM. (Mail-in registration preferred – forms on last page of program)
Most Adult Education Classes start the week of 9/24/14 unless otherwise stated.
Everyone must pre-register before 1st night of class. No walk-ins allowed.
Registration deadline for Driver Education is 9/18/14
(Obtain registration forms from THS Main Office or Room 345)
The office of Adult and Continuing Education is dedicated to providing the Troy
community with opportunities to further their educational goals as well as special
interests classes and Driver Education class for our high school students.
Registrations are not confirmed. Once registered, you can consider yourself
enrolled.
REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED BY MAIL with full payment enclosed
(personal check, cashiers’ check or money order accepted). Please do not mail
cash or use certified mail. Anyone over 16 is eligible to participate. If we cancel
a course you will be notified and a full refund will be given. No refunds will be
issued for dropped classes unless you cancel within 48 hours prior to the
start of the class (No Refunds for Driver Education).
Evening students are required to abide by the regulations governing the
school buildings; smoking is prohibited in buildings and on grounds. Weather
cancellations will be posted in the media. The Enlarged City School District of
Troy, The Board of Education, its agents and employees are not responsible for
any injury or damage to persons or property arising out of participation in any Adult
Education course or activity offered by the District. All risks and any expenses are
assumed by the participant.
ACADEMICS
DO YOU NEED A GED DIPLOMA?
Algebra
This course is designed for adult students who have not already acquired a High
School Diploma or a GED Diploma.
This is an accredited high school math course. Topics of study include elementary
algebra, linear and quadratic functions, inequalities, coordinate geometry,
probability, and statistics. This course is consistent with the Integrated Algebra
course in high school. Attendance is required for all 20 classes (total 60 hours).

Biology
This class is designed for adults who need high school biology for admission to
college programs (e.g. nursing). This is a lab-oriented course. Pre-requisite: High
School General Science (Science 9) or equivalent. Attendance is required for all

DRIVER EDUCATION
Driver Education
This non-credit course includes 24 hours of classroom instruction and 24 hours of
on-the-road instruction. By 9/18/14, students must be 16 years of age and have
a valid learner’s permit. Upon completion of the course, the student will be issued
an MV-285 Student Certificate of Completion. This will allow the holder to drive
after 9 PM at age 17 and an insurance reduction where applicable. Those who
complete this course are not required to take the 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course.
Troy High School seniors will be given first preference. To register, students must
complete the Driver Education Parental Permission and registration forms (located
in the THS Main Office or Room 345) and submit these forms along with payment
(payable to Troy School District) to Troy High Main Office by Thursday, 9/18/14.
Students who are not pre-registered will not be allowed to attend. Minimum of
16 students required.

and 1st class). Classroom instruction will be held on
Thursdays, 3:30-5:30 (12 classes). In-the-car instruction

Pilates Plus
What secret do elite athletes, ballerinas and Top Models have in common? Pilates!
You will learn the time tested principles of Joseph Pilates who pioneered these
‘powerhouse’ moves along with cutting edge transformational moves. This program
is focused on the ‘core’ of your strength; your abdominals, back, hips and thighs
in a systematic method of lengthening these muscles by strengthening them. You
WILL FEEL and SEE THE RESULTS….not only in this class but in your day-to-day
activities. You will likely walk a bit taller, move with greater grace, feel increased
energy, and notice a transformation in your abdominal region. It’s no secret!

Butts and Guts
Get strong, lean, and focused this Fall. Some of our biggest trouble areas are the
stomach and backside. Butts and Guts will reduce, shape, and lift those stubborn
areas in your glutes, abs, and thighs. You will work all 3 major muscles of the
buttocks from multiple angles to:
• Create tight and toned hips and thighs
• Shape your butt and sculpt your abs
• Lift your butt so it looks great from every angle
Remember working these large muscle groups helps to increase your metabolism
so that you are burning calories long after you leave class! To support your success,
class members will follow a structured workout schedule to help keep you on top
of your game and give you rapid results.
Please wear clothing that allows you to move comfortably. Bring a mat and don’t
forget your water! At the end of these 10 weeks you will be winking at yourself in

Boot Camp Challenge
“Boot Camp Challenge”(BCC) is an all-in-one packaged fitness program
encompassing assessments/testing, work outs, and detailed nutritional guidance
throughout the program. The program is designed for men and women of all fitness
levels from the beginner to the advanced exerciser. Every workout offered has the
ability to be modified for ALL fitness levels. Your Drill Sergeant will work with you
to help you build your cardiovascular and muscular strength and endurance while
improving balance and flexibility. Proven results include weight loss, decrease in
body fat, increase in muscular strength and endurance, increase in cardiovascular
strength, decrease in blood pressure and cholesterol and decrease in stress
level and fatigue. Your Drill Sergeant will also be available outside of class time
for support and encouragement. This program is unlike any “boot camp” style

Spanish for Beginners
Learn to speak, read, and write the fastest-growing language in the USA for
travel, work or fun as this course will be geared to the needs of the registrants.
Friendly, stress-free student-centered learning activities include basic greetings,
departures, and conversational phrases; investigating Spanish culture; and
learning to speak, read and write at a beginner’s level. The sound of the language
is strongly emphasized.

Intermediate Spanish
This course focuses on enhancing previous acquired language skills of Spanish,
build a solid grammatical foundation, while reinforcing the four Basic language
skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing. During the six sessions students
will review comprehensive grammar structure of the present, past and future
tense. To accomplish this objective, students will participate in conversations
related to everyday topics and authentic social situations of the Hispanic World.
