Leonardo 973-224-6693 or 973-347-0032 Dear Parishioners, I’d like to tell you a bit about my history with the mission trips these past two years, and how it affected me. My first trip was in 2013, and I am going on my third this summer. Before I went on the mission trip, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was not disappointed. The amount of Christians all gathered together to serve those in need was so inspiring. I couldn’t believe how many great individuals I met, who still to this day have a special place in my heart. Every night during the mission trip we’d gather to worship and talk about God, how He works in our life, and gives meaning to our work throughout the week. After my first mission trip, I knew this was something I’d want to do again. It made me see how my faith was always going to be the biggest part of my life no matter what. Naturally, it was an easy decision to go again last summer. I didn’t think I could love the experience any more than I already did, but I was proven wrong. I had an amazing resident named Junior who was so grateful for the work we were doing for him. He loved cowboy films, dinosaurs, and riding bike, but most of all he loved talking to us about those things. When we finished working on his house, he was so pleased, and seeing him happy made me happy. On these trips, you build a relationship with God by building relationships with others. My faith is continuously growing when I form bonds with people like my resident. St. Michael’s has truly blessed me by providing these trips. I don’t think I would be the same person I am today without this amazing experience. Thank you for all the support you have given us! (Crisis Pregnancy Hotline – 800-848-5683) St. Michael School Annual Calendar Raffle Tickets On Sale NOW! ADORER WITNESS Here another November is upon us. A month when we put more thought into thinking about the POOR SOULS IN PURGATORY. I always thought that not enough was taught to the younger generation about purgatory. We do know that once you leave this earth, God willing, we will end up in purgatory, but the scary part is once you are there you can do nothing to help yourself leave there. Then we will have to depend on our family and friends to pray for us. We are fortunate at St. Michael’s to have the Perpetual Adoration Chapel. If you have never visited it you don’t know what you are missing. It is the perfect time to keep your loved ones who are no longer here in your prayers just knowing you are helping them get closer to our heavenly Father. That will be an awesome feeling and at the same time gaining rewards in heaven. St. Michael School will be in the back of church today for their annual calendar raffle ticket sale. The drawing will have daily monetary wins for 65 days starting January 1st through March 7, 2015. A winning ticket is placed back in the raffle so there are 65 chances to win with just one ticket! Tickets are $10 each. They make great Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers! If you want to purchase but are unable to do so today, please see our St. Michael Student and Parent at back of church to give your name and contact information and they will get one or more to you! Thank you very much. The words of John’s gospel ‘and the Word became flesh and He dwelt among us’ speak not only of Mary and the Incarnation, but also of the reality, that God lives in and among us. Pope John Regional High School Open House November 12th at 7:30pm for 7th grade students entering 8th grade in the fall of 2015. How meaningful as we read these words is the fact that the person sitting and praying next to us, is a temple of God’s Spirit. How The Dedication of the Lateran Basilica November 9, 2014 “You are God’s building. Thanks to the favor God showed me I laid a foundation as a wise master- builder might do, and now someone else is building upon it. Everyone, however, must be careful how he builds. No one can lay a foundation other than the one that has been laid, namely Jesus Christ…Are you not aware that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” The church we reflect upon today, a major basilica in Rome, is called ‘the mother of all the churches of Rome and the world.’ It has a special place in the history of the church. We move from a physical building and are reminded by St. Paul that we too are temples of the Spirit. We are challenging for us to recognize the presence of the Lord in those of our family, those with whom we work. How beautiful we are as we reflect with Paul that ‘I live, now, not I, but Christ lives in me.’ As I spend time in prayer, whether in a magnificent cathedral or humble chapel, the fact is that the Lord is present and that is what really matters. As I spend time with family and friends, and recognize the presence of the Lord in every individual that is what really matters. The next time I pass a church, may I remember that His dwelling is there and also with me. In the words of Oscar Romero, Christ is the Master builder, we are the ministers.
