INTROIT
OPENING SENTENCES
Come, sing to the Lord!
Praise his holy Name!
Come sing and praise our God!
For God is our strength and Savior!
So come and be refreshed,
as fresh water brings joy to the thirsty!
* HYMN #276
Great is Thy Faithfulness
* CONFESSION OF SIN
Merciful and loving God,
you have created this world out of love and called it good,
and you created us to know, love and serve you.
We desire to know you, we love you,
and we want to serve you.
Too often, though,
we find that we know our own selfish desires best,
we love ourselves most,
and we want to serve you only after serving ourselves.
Lord have mercy on us for we are sinners.
We have gone astray;
we follow the desires of our own hearts
instead of following You.
We overlook our neighbors in need,
pass by injustice,
and sometimes even willfully defy your will for our lives.
Have mercy on us, because we are sinful.
We thank you, O Lord, because you are loving and gracious.
You know what we are like, and you love us still.
You sent your son Jesus to die for us, even though we are
sinners.
Pour out your mercy upon us, O God,
as we confess our sin to you . . .
* SILENT CONFESSION
* ASSURANCE OF PARDON
* OUR RESPONSE #579
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
And to the Holy Ghost:
As it was in the beginning,
Is now, and ever shall be,
World without end. Amen, Amen.
* THE PEACE OF CHRIST
[Children participating in Sunday School are dismissed at this time]

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
SCRIPTURE (NIV)
Romans 5:6-11
6
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ
died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous
person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still
sinners, Christ died for us.
9
Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall
we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were
God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his
Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved
through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through
our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received
reconciliation.
John 8:2-11
2
At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people
gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of
the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They
made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this
woman was caught in the act of adultery.
5
In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do
you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a
basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.
7
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to
them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a
stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9
At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older
ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.
10
Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has
no one condemned you?”
11
“No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave
your life of sin.”

CALLING ALL SOPRANOS, ALTOS, TENORS AND BASSES.

to commit to rehearsing on a weekly basis throughout the year?
Here is a special opportunity to share your talents and sing to the
glory of God. We are looking for singers (members and nonmembers alike) who would like to participate in the Advent Choir

four of the rehearsals and show up at 9:00 AM on December
21st.

With the holidays approaching, we are reminded that the
opportunity to SHARE our good blessings is one of our greatest
reasons for thankfulness. The Mattie N. Dixon Community
Cupboard, with the help of other local churches, businesses and
organizations, distributes food and household goods at
Thanksgiving and throughout the year to less fortunate families
in our community. If you would like to contribute to this worthy
cause you may use the Thanksgiving Outreach envelopes found
in your church mailbox and at the Help Desk. Place your
contribution in the offering plate through November 23rd.

LIBRARY BOOK REVIEW. What’s So Amazing About Grace?
by Philip Yancey. Jesus gave grace to the adulteress. How
often do we give grace to our fellow man? Grace is the one thing
that only humans can distribute. It is the redeeming feature of
the church. So let us all be like Christ and give grace and hope
to all.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR SUNDAY MORNINGS:
• Nursery Caregivers (during 11 AM Worship). We are looking for
a few more nursery caregivers who will serve no more than six
times a year.
• Teacher/Shepherd (during 11 AM Worship). Team up with one
other person to regularly shepherd elementary age children.
Shepherds escort children to our creative workshops, work on
Bible skills and lead small group prayer times. Prep is minimal.

sign up to participate in Good News of Great
Joy Christmas Pageant. Practices begin Sunday,

School hour. Children in 1st through 5th will practice from 8:45-9:30 AM.
