We have nothing that we have earned but, rather, our time, our talent and our treasure are all gifts that have been entrusted to us by our Creator. The expectation is great: we are to use all we have not for our own selfish purposes but to promote God’s love and His Kingdom in the world. It is never to be our goal in life to acquire as many riches as possible for our own comfort or wellbeing. Through the reception of these gifts, we are to use our time, talent and resources in praise and thanksgiving to God and to share—personally and materially—these gifts as a sign of gratitude and the fulfillment of our invitation and responsibility of our baptismal covenant. Mindful that each of us are called and expected by God to be faithful and wise stewards may we labor responsibly for the glory of God and magnify Him by our works. I have received very positive feedback from some of you who attended this past week’s Parish Mission and agree that this was a wonderful experience in bringing us into a closer relationship with God and with one another. I am so grateful for Fr. Gielow leading us in prayer and reflection during this Mission. I also want to express my gratitude to the members of the parish who initially inquired about scheduling a Parish Mission; those who planned and coordinated the individuals and events surrounding the Mission; those who served as ministers at the Masses, and the Knights of Columbus who graciously provided the hall for the receptions. Thanks to all of you who were so welcoming to Fr. Gielow during his stay and for your participation during the Mission. He was most appreciative of all the kindness shown to him. If you wish to purchase a copy of Fr. Gielow’s meditation book, “Walk with Me”, I have some copies available in my office for six dollars. Chuck and Pat Kendrick have coordinated the Adoration Chapel since its beginning. We, the parishes of Holy Rosary and St. Stephen’s are most appreciative for their many years of dedicated service. They have requested to be relieved of this duty and I am pleased that Jack and Phyllis Campbell have graciously accepted the many responsibilities of this Chapel ministry. Effective immediately, Mr. and Mrs. Campbell are assuming this responsibility. They will be working with the captains in maintaining the schedule and coordinating everything in relation to the Chapel. Howard and Linda Willard will be the contacts in case of emergency. The telephone numbers for Mr. and Mrs. Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. Willard are available on the roster sheets of the adorers. Thursday, November 27th is Thanksgiving Day. Mass will be celebrated in the church on Thanksgiving at the usual time of 7:30 a.m. In observation of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Parish Office will be closed on November 27th and 28th. On Friday, November 28th, there will be no Mass celebrated in the church. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Stewardship In today’s Gospel, Jesus delivers the parable of the talents; using the example of money rather than abilities or skills. It’s a story about investments, risks and returns. Stewards understand that God has given them an abundance of spiritual gifts. They know God doesn’t want them to simply receive these blessings and bury them in fear, but to multiply them; to use these gifts to serve Him and others; to spread Christ’s Good News; to go and make disciples of others. Good stewards invest what God has given them in the service of others and are prepared to render an account when the Lord returns. Reflect this week on how you are returning your own God-given gifts back to God with increase. School News Picture Retakes will be on Monday, Nov. 17, at 8:30 at school Basketball Games - Tues., Nov. 18, at Paris - Thurs., Nov. 20, at Mark Twain The Mass at 8:20 on Friday, Nov. 21, will be led by the seventh grade students. As a shepherd tends his flock…I will rescue them from every place where they were scattered when it was cloudy or dark.” I will pasture them, give them rest, bring back the strays, and heal the sick. Psalm 23: 1-2, 2-3, 5-6 The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. 1 Corinthians 15:20-26, 28 Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “Just as in Adam all die, so too in Christ shall all be brought to life.” Christ must reign until the last enemy, death, is destroyed, “so that God may be all in all.” Matthew 25:31-46 As a shepherd separates sheep from goats, so will the Son of Man come in glory to separate those who fed the hungry from those who did not: “Whatever you did for one of the least…you did for me.” Scripture Service – Monroe City Manor – Sundays November 16 – Jim & Sheryl Underhill November 23 – John & Connie Kendrick December 14 – Mark Yager December 28 – Howard & Linda Willard SCHEDULE OF THINGS TO COME Nov. 21-22 – Monroe City Food Bank Dec. 2 -7:00pm – Knights of Columbus Meeting Dec. 7 – Hospitality Sunday Dec. 11 – 7:00pm Daughters of Isabella Meeting Retrouvaille February 6-8, 2015 June 5-7, 2015 For more information please call 1-800-470-2230 Adoration Chapel Hours Adoration hours that are open: Thursday 11:00am-12:00pm (noon) Thursday 2:00pm – 3:00pm Friday 9:00am – 10:00am Friday 2:00-3:00pm Please call Chuck/Pat Kendrick, 735-2541, if you would like to fill one of the open hours, or change your day adoration hour. Now is an opportune time for us to step back as coordinators/facilitators of the Chapel and turn those tasks over to the Committee. We thank everyone who has helped make the Chapel a success over the years, and hope for it will continue to thrive throughout the coming years.. Chuck and Pat Kendrick
