Treats for Holiday Party and Special Events The state allows each school to designate three days where the FMNV (Foods of Minimal Nutritional Value) policy can be waived, and students may be provided snacks that don’t meet FMNV guidelines. At Cryar Intermediate, we have designated the following three days: Pastries for Parents Winter Party Valentine’s Day November 6th December 19th February 13th Additionally, FMNV policy allows treats that don’t meet FMNV policy for a child’s birthday, which may be shared with his/her class, but they may not be consumed before or during the lunch period. At Cryar, such treats are shared with the child’s class in the cafeteria immediately following lunch, should a parent choose to provide them. Treats that do not meet FMNV guidelines may not be provided on any other days. Nurse Clarke Says . . . 1. Students are not allowed to transport any type of medications to and from school. All prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines must be brought to school and picked up by the parents. 2. Just a reminder that cold and flu season is approaching. We encourage our students to do the following things to help keep themselves as healthy as possible: *Frequent hand washing for 20 seconds. Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands. Avoid kissing, hugging, or sharing eating utensils with people who are ill. Cover all coughs and sneezes. Disinfect frequently-touched surfaces, such as toys and doorknobs, especially if someone is ill. Children in Santa’s Dreams Congratulations! The CISD Police Department would like to invite you to help them make a child’s Christmas dream come true. Cryar will be collecting NEW, unwrapped gifts for boys and girls of all ages. We would like to have all gifts in by Friday, December 5th. There will be a large container in the front office for the collection of the donated toys. *Mr. Chris Lopez, Cryar’s choir director, had ten 6th grade choir members who performed at a district-wide solo contest on October 25th, at Vogel Intermediate School. Seven of the students received a 1st Division Superior Rating, along with a CISD medal. Choir members, you are amazing! The gifts will be wrapped by the police department and given to families who might not otherwise have a wonderful Christmas without your help. SALUTE TO OUR VETERANS Please join the combined Armed Services Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) of the Conroe Independent School District in a salute to our local area veterans.
