AUCC Weekend Preview and reserves sides playing Saturday/Sunday double headers.
AUCC Weekend Preview It`s a busy weekend of cricket down at Colin Maiden Park with both our premier and reserves sides playing Saturday/Sunday double headers. AUCC Premier Men v Papatoetoe – Colin Maiden Park `B` Block After a heartbreaking seven run loss at the hands of Parnell last week our premier men`s side have a chance to get back to winning ways quickly this weekend when they face Papatoetoe on CMP`s number one. The visitors come into the game on the back of an outright victory over Takapuna in round one and their star player is undoubtedly former Aces spinner Bhupinder Singh. Marc Ellison has made one change to the line up ahead of tomorrow`s first day with Pierce Fletcher, who claimed seven wickets and scored 37 not out in the reserves last week, replacing Josh Fisher in the seam attack. AUCC Premier Women v Takapuna – Onewa Domain AUCC`s premier women`s side will be looking to get back to winning ways when they face Takapuna, the leaders of the one-day competition, at Onewa Domain. After an opening round victory over Cornwall Anna Peterson`s side lost heavily to Waitakere City last Saturday leaving tomorrow`s opponents as the only unbeaten side in the competition. While opening batsman Ingrid Cronin-Knight returns to the top order Varsity could be without captain Anna Peterson and all rounder Jesse Prasad who are injury doubts. AUCC Premier Reserve’s v Howick Pakuranga – Colin Maiden Park `E` Block Another team looking to get back to winning ways is Nigel Fletcher`s premier reserves side after they opened up their two-day season with a heavy defeat at the hands of Cornwall. Pierce Fletcher was one of the few bright spots for Varsity in round one taking 7 wickets before top scoring with 37 not out. Unsurprisingly those efforts have seen Fletcher gain a promotion to the premier side but, with Josh Fisher coming into the side, the reserves will have arguably an even stronger seam attack for round two. AUCC Senior A1s v Birkenhead City – Colin Maiden Park `A` Block Jamie Grupen-Hall Senior A1 side will be looking to finish the pre Christmas portion of the one-day season undefeated when they take on Birkenhead City on CMP`s `A` Block. Grupen-Hall`s side have won all three matches so far this season scoring over 230 runs on each occasion. Saturday`s visitors will however provide the A1s their sternest test of the season being Birkenhead`s reserves side but our boys have received a further boost to their line up with the addition of Jonty Dineen, who has scored 300 runs in three innings this season, to the squad. AUCC Senior B3s v Suburbs New Lynn – Eastdale Reserve Donald White`s AUCC senior B3 side travels to Eastdale Reserve on Saturday afternoon t take on table topping Suburbs New Lynn in round four of the one-day competition. White`s team has lost two out of three matches so far this season but the overall displays from his young side have been encouraging since gaining promotion from the C1 grade.
