Over the past decade, the number of bariatric procedures performed in the
United States has doubled1. As these numbers have increased, so have the
number of endoscopic bariatric therapies that either have been approved
for clinical use or are on the verge of being approved. If you are looking
to establish and operate an endoscopic weight management practice or
simply want to add these capabilities to your existing practice, this is an
ideal course for you. Get up-to-speed on everything you need to know
PLUS get hands-on training from experts in the field.
Course Description
This course features experts in the area of endoluminal endoscopic
weight loss procedures who will provide participants with the
latest information on endoscopic bariatric therapies and how to
incorporate them into your practice.
Didactic presentations will cover the following:
• A comprehensive review of clinically available primary endoluminal
endoscopic weight loss procedures
• An update on the primary weight loss procedures anticipated to
become available in the US
• Revisional interventions for added weight loss after surgery
• Management of bariatric surgical adverse outcomes
Hands-on demonstrations will include:
• Gastric balloon placement and retrieval
• Duodenal sleeve placement and retrieval
• Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty
• Endoscopic gastric placating
• Aspiration therapy for obesity
• Endoscopic suturing station (stent suturing outlet reduction techniques)
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:
• Identify the rationale and expectations of endoluminal primary
endoscopic weight loss therapy
• Be familiar with the current outcomes in endoluminal endoscopic
weight loss therapy
• Acquire skills to perform endoluminal primary bariatric procedures
and secondary or revisional procedures
• Develop advanced suturing skills as applied within bariatric
endoscopy
Target Audience
This course is intended for endoscopists who are affiliated with an
established bariatric program or who are in the process of establishing
a bariatric practice.
