Shindaiwa is not going away!
By Jorge Lazo – President
By now many of you may have
heard that ECHO Inc. will be
assuming responsibility for
the sales and marketing of the
Shindaiwa product line. This does not mean that
the Shindaiwa product line is going away, just the
opposite. Both the Shindaiwa and ECHO product
lines have distinct strengths and will coexist together, providing a broad range of products to the
outdoor power equipment industry.
introduced our new EB8520 backpack blower,
T282 trimmer and C282 brushcutter. All of these
products have received rave reviews and all indications are that they will be equally as successful as
the EB802.
The consolidation of the Shindaiwa Inc and ECHO
Inc sales and marketing operations will help ensure that you continue to have access to a broader

When Shindaiwa set out to
design the world’s best grass
trimmer, the logical first step
was to build upon a proven
winner – the Shindaiwa T270.
At the heart of the 282-series is the proven 270-series
engine design, updated with
today’s advanced engine
technology.
Our new engine technology allows Shindaiwa engines to meet
environmental emission standards and, at the same time, deliver
all the power, efficiency and performance for which Shindaiwa
is famous for.
Some of the many features of the T282/C282 are:
• The T282 features a new ergonomic designed loop handle
which is positioned at an 8° angle to provide a more natural
wrist position to reduce operator fatigue
• Full anti-vibration system for long-duration cutting without
fatigue
• Well balanced design to reduce operator fatigue
• Powerful, 28.9 cc engine produces more than enough power,
1.4 hp (1.0 kW), for the toughest jobs
• Quality two-ring piston and chrome-plated cylinder for
maximum durability
• Hollow, 8mm steel main shaft for reduced weight
• Large 4-shoe clutch provides better power transfer to the
cutting attachment for increased productivity
• Purge pump carburetor and electronic ignition system for fast,
easy starts every time
• Popular Shindaiwa Speed-Feed® trimmer head standard
equipment for trimmer line reloads in less than 30 seconds
• Unsurpassed Japanese workmanship

Being Green
Engines need Clean Air too
By Paul Wheatcraft – Director of Marketing
By Vic Grossi –Technical Services Rep
It has become increasingly popular to be
“green.” But what exactly does that mean?
To me, being green is all about making daily
choices that are as friendly to the environment
as possible. As users of handheld gas powered equipment, you
can play a key role by purchasing products from companies that
produce green products.
In the last issue of Clippings, I described the Shindaiwa line of
environmentally friendly low emission C4 products. Another feature of the C4 products is that they provide higher torque at lower
RPM, which means that you can run the engine at a lower RPM to
accomplish most jobs. Running at a lower RPM requires less fuel
to get the job done, so you may find that a C4 product will actually
more than pay for itself in fuel cost savings. Doing the right thing
for the environment doesn’t always have to take money out of your
pocket, sometimes it saves you money.
When you shop for your next piece of handheld power equipment,
make sure you take into consideration the emission levels AND
fuel efficiency of all the units you are evaluating.
We love hearing from satisfied users of our products! In each issue of Clippings, we will ask for specific product testimonials and
then publish selected submissions in the next issue. We know
everyone is busy, so we want to reward those who take the extra
time to submit a testimonial with a $25 prepaid VISA card!
We are looking for C4 testimonials for the
upcoming Summer Clippings issue.
To qualify for the VISA card,
please submit a 25-100 word testimonial
and your contact information, no later than
July 31, 2009, to
Shindaiwa Inc., 11975 SW Herman Road, Tualatin OR 97062
or via email to [email protected]
Air filters are the “lungs” of any engine.
All engines require air, fuel, and ignition
to operate. Without proper air filter
maintenance, you are creating several
conditions that will impede the performance and shorten the life
of your piece of equipment.
Dirty –
With a clogged/plugged/dirty
Replace
filter, you are creating a “rich”
condition where the unit is
getting more fuel than air. This
condition will start to foul the
spark plug, build up carbon in
the exhaust port and muffler,
use more fuel, and eventually
result in a “catastrophic” engine failure.
New – clean
Air filters are an inexpensive item to replace that will help ensure
the life and performance of your equipment!
We are running several retail promotions throughout the summer
months. All of the promotions are prominently displayed on the
right hand side of the Shindaiwa home page. New promotions
are added each month, so stop back often.
