This website has your student entry form as well as all the direction and
rules for the contest. We look forward to seeing all of the entries!
Dear Parents and Guardians of MILA Students,
The PTA’s Reflections program was developed in 1969 to encourage students to explore their talents
and express themselves. It has inspired millions of students to reflect on a specific theme and create
original artwork. Each year, students in grades Pre-K through 12 are recognized for bringing the theme
to life through dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and
visual arts. This program is not required by each student, but is optional to participate in. This year’s
theme is, “The world would be a better place if….”
Students will submit their artwork to our local MILA PTA for initial judging on November 19th, then onto
Mecklenburg County PTA on November 24th, then winning entries advance to the State round on
December 5th. Top State PTA Reflections contest advance to National PTA for the final round of judging.
National PTA awards are announced each May. National winners can win up to $800 for themselves and
$200 for their school.

Special Artist Division, unlimited entries
We truly hope that each and every student that has a desire to show their artistic and creative skills will
consider an entry to the Reflections program. Research shows a significant relationship between arts
education, family engagement, and community participation. The arts provide safe learning
environments where students take risks, explore ideas, express their individuality, and support their
peers in positive ways.
Thank You,
