Welcome to Week 6:
Congratulations to our Glenbervie School Kapa Haka
Roopu who placed 2nd overall in the Maranga Mai E Te
Iwi School Regional Championships for 2014. We placed
1st equal in the Haka and Waiata, 1st in Whaikorero and
Kaitataki Tane, 2nd in the Kaitaki Wahine and Whakaeke
and 3rd in the Waiata Tira and Poi. Thanks to Joby,
Donna and Debbie who have worked hard leading up to
the event. A huge thanks to everyone involved in
supporting the students and the event.
We hope you have a great week.

Scholastic Book Orders: This is the last
catalogue for the year. These books make
excellent Christmas gifts. Please remember
to make cheques payable to Scholastic,
(NOT Glenbervie School). Credit card details only need
to be entered once.
Orders are due tomorrow, Friday 21st November.
Maori Language Week/Te Wiki o te reo
Maori: This week’s word/kupu is
Aporo which means apple.
Glenbervie School T-Shirts: Please check if
your child has borrowed any of the Glenbervie
School T-Shirts. These need to be returned to
the School Office. These are very expensive
items for us to replace. Thanks.
Disco: A big thank you to all the parents
that helped out at the School Disco. The
night was a huge success with the children
dancing until the very end.
The winner of the “Best Dressed” was Lucy and the
“Best Dancer” went to Brooke.

Induction Day 2014: An
Induction Day is being
held
at
Whangarei
Intermediate School on Wednesday 26th November
starting at 10.00am.
Student Success: Grace B was awarded the
Patterson Cup for achieving the highest mark at
ABRSM Exam Grade 1-5 (singing) in Northland.
In fine twin style, (both getting the same mark),
Lauren and Quin won the Examiners Choice
Award for achieving the highest mark for Under
Grade 5 in Northland for Piano NZ Board Exams.
Kyra, has been selected for the under 13 Touch
Rugby Rep team. Congratulations to Kyra on a
superb effort.
Well done to you all. It is good to see that you
are being rewarded for all your hard work and
commitment!
Athletics Day: What a fun day. Thanks to
Mrs Erwin for arranging the great weather on the
day.
The parent support was once again
BRILLANT. Tui was the winning house with Ruru a
very close second.
Athletics Day Lost Items: A number of items
have been handed to the office including a cell
phone and earrings. There are also other items, if
you lost something please phone the school office.
PTA Calendar Fundraiser:
Thanks to Amanda and the
PTA Team, $1368.00 was
raised through the Calendar and Diary sales.
Thanks to all the parents who supported this
initiative.
SPCA FUNDRAISER: Two of our senior students, Ayja
and Alice are doing a ‘can drive’ fundraiser to
support the SPCA. They are asking for
donations of pet food or pet toys. This
fundraiser is going to the SPCA for
Christmas. The box for these items will be
in the school office lobby. Please donate kindly.

Hurupaki Educare - Pre Christmas 2014 and January
Holiday Programme 2015: We are opening pre Christmas
from Thursday 18th to Wednesday 24th December 2014 and
again on Monday 5th January 2015 for 4 weeks, 8.00am to
5.30pm, based in the Hurupaki School Hall. Activities include
trips to ten pin bowling, movies x 2, trips to Reotahi and Whale
Bay, along with other action packed days. The programme is
OSCAR accredited, families can apply for WINZ assistance –
conditions apply. Discounts available for two or more children

Wii and Accessories and Girls 20” Bike For Sale: The Wii
comes with many games and accessories, $100. The Girls

Glenbervie Community Hall: Glenbervie Community Hall
would like to invite any interested parents, grandparents etc to
take part in an Inside Hall Working Bee on 29th November,
starting at 9.30am. Tea/coffee supplied. Thanking you in
