Seminar Highlights:
This seminar is highly relevant to current
social work practice. Borderline patients
commonly seek treatment and clinicians
struggle to work with them. This seminar
provides an overview on the etiology and
symptoms of these clients and specific
details about an empirically validated
model of treatment. Dialectical Behavioral
Therapy is very useful and effective for the
borderline patient and social workers will
learn how to use it in their clinical practice.
The seminar will cover theory and practice
issues that can be used immediately. Speaker: Phil Feldman, PhD, LCSW
Dr. Phil Feldman is the Director of Puerto Rican
Family Institute in Jersey City, NJ. He is also an
Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University, Graduate
School of Social Work. Dr. Feldman has presented more
than 200 clinical seminars at hospitals and agencies
on personality disorders, emotional problems, and
psychotherapy techniques. In addition to working as
a psychotherapist for 25 years, he is the author of three
manuals: “Shame Affect,” “Dual Diagnosis Manual”,
and “The Psychotherapy Manual.”

Objectives:

treat borderline patients.
• Learn three ways to set limits with patients who
are acting out and who may try to undermine the
theraputic process.
• Four measurable and realistic goals for borderline
patients will be highlighted in this seminar
• Learn about the etiology of the patient’s symptoms
and how to provide effective case management.
