Message from the President
I really wasn’t planning on writing anything this week. It was a quiet
week here in the shul. Plans for the concert were done. People had
responded generously to the request for sponsorships and ticket
purchases. This was going to be a vacation week from messages, as we
prepared for the concert. Then I saw the unreal news Tuesday
morning. Har Nof? During davening? This is in the heart of where we
have all visited and spent time. My son was in that shul numerous times.
My uncle and aunt live near that shul. As I put on my tallis and tefillin
that morning, I wondered what it was like for those four Kedoshim,
HYD, as they put on their tallis and tefillin that day. What was it like as
they left their houses that morning? What was the last thing they said to
their families? Chazal tell us that a person doesn’t know the day of his
death. Can that point be brought further home than with this tragic
event?
When people need to carry guns to go to shul in their
neighborhood, when babies are killed as their parents are waiting for
a bus, when people are randomly stabbed as they walk in the streets
of Yerushalayim; it’s not supposed to happen like this.
May Hashem send a nechama to the families and friends of all those
that were tragically taken from us, and may Hashem protect us from
any further attacks.
