SAVE THE DATE! Announcing JCC Forum Speakers Rabbi Shmuley Boteach & Newark, NJ Mayor Cory Booker Beyond Tolerance: Being Enriched by Differences February 12, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at the Oates Theater at Collegiate School Look for ticket renewal and more information on our Patrons of the Arts program soon! Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, host of the award-winning national TV show, Shalom in the Home on TLC, first garnered world recognition through his founding of the Oxford L’Chaim Society. As a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, Cory Booker, now mayor of Newark, New Jersey, attended a L’Chaim Society meeting and was seated next to the 24-year-old Chabad Rabbi, Shmuley Boteach. This began a conversation that would one day inspire the values of communities worldwide. Unlikely companions, the young Baptist from New Jersey and Oxford’s rabbi of more than a decade discovered a deeply shared belief in the power of diversity and tolerance to influence meaningful change. At the podium, the two close friends, both mesmerizing speakers, bring their passion for social change to audiences, sharing stories informed by individual and shared experiences. Together they demonstrate the need for communities to embrace social values that extend beyond simple tolerance, encouraging lifetime of enrichment through difference.
