HSPS - Austin Fundraising Letter Campaign
If you are a parent or student who does not like fundraisers that involve selling “stuff”, then
this is the fundraiser for you!
Here’s how it works:
Each student may bring a list of at least 5 names and addresses of their relatives/family friends/or business
contacts to send letters to asking them to donate any amount they choose to support our school. This year we are
raising funds to purchase tablets for technology use in the classroom and a marquee for establishing communication
with our parents and students. A sample letter will be available on the HSPS website for you to use.
With over 800 students at HSPS even a small goal of $20/student would yield $16,000! The best part is all of
the donations received will directly benefit the students!
To add a little competitive fun to this campaign the following prizes will be awarded:
Top 10 Students who raise the most:
Limo ride for lunch off-campus
Top high school homeroom: Free Dress Day and Catered Lunch
Top middle school homeroom: Pizza Lunch Party
Top elementary homeroom:
Popcorn and Movie Afternoon Screening (after school)
Please encourage donations to be submitted as a check or money order payable to HSPS-Austin, or credit
card donations can be taken at the front office (receipt of credit card donations should be given to students for
homeroom turn-in). All funds should be collected by the student and turned in to the homeroom teacher. Homeroom
teachers will turn in funds to the office every Friday, and weekly fundraising progress updates will be posted in the
lobby and the school website.
All funds must be turned in by Friday, January 9th to count towards the competition. Any funds received
after this date will be accepted but will not be counted towards the competition.
Students should bring their address request forms and will write their letters during DEAR on Monday,
December 1st, 2014, and will be expected to submit them back in DEAR on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014. Please
remember that making this fundraiser successful is only possible with support from everyone—everything we do is
for our students.
We want to thank you in advance for your support!

Dear__________________________,
This year I am attending Harmony School of Political Science and Communication. It is a public
charter school, and this is our fourth year in town. Our grades span from K-11th grade, and next year we
will add 12th grade. If you could please visit our school website at www.hspaustin.org, you may find
more information about my school.
We are one of the few T-STEM schools in Texas, with a concentration in Political Science,
Math, Science, and Computer Technology. We have teams participating in various competitions such as robotics, science
fair, math counts, UIL competitions, spelling bee, geography bee, and Destination Imagination. Last year, some HSPS
students advanced to the city wide science fair competition and some of them even received awards there. Four of our
HSPS students and one of our very own teacher participants won awards from the nationwide Digital Story Telling
Contest (DISTCO).
With the hustle and bustle of a new school year HSPS prides itself in adapting to all grades by providing
wonderful opportunities for our students. For our elementary and middle school students these opportunities include trips
to the Texas Capital, Strawberry farms, Austin Science and Nature center, Longhorn Caverns, Texas Memorial Museum,
HSPS fall and cultural festival, Veteran’s day tribute, and many more to come. Our high school students have enjoyed
trips to various college campuses including SMU, University of Texas at Austin, and St. Edward’s University. HSPS high
school students enjoy a wide variety of activities from having a rock band, participating in athletics, volunteering at
school wide events, and holding positions in various organizations such as Student Council. All of these activities and
competitions are solely supported and funded by our school.
We are having a fundraiser at our school to help support our technology needs as our school continues to grow
and to maintain a quality education for our students. Specifically we are raising money to purchase smart tablets and a
school marquee.
All the funds remain at HSPS and we are hoping to raise more than $25,000.00. We are writing to you, as a part of
our extended family, to help us reach our goal by making a small donation ($5, $10, $15…) or gently used smart tablets.
Please send donations before December 31st, 2014. All donations are tax deductible.
Thank you for your continued support.
